I'm tempted to say what a waste of talent and good riddance.

But he has had a good career when all is said and done, greatest SMW of all time, and a proven elite fighter.

If nothing else, he career has proved his calibre as a fighter. That as a top pound for pounder, one of the very best of his generation, and that nobody can dispute. He should, and could, have fought better opposition however, and proved himself as more than a elite fighter, but a great one, if that makes sense.

He falls short of true greatness I fear.

:patsch His biggest wins are over a 40 yr old and a 43 yr old, both of whom he could've fought when they were at thier peaks long ago. He hid in Wales behind the WBOGUS title for nearly 10 yrs, Tyson, SSM and PBF never ****ed with that fake ass title, he waited till 06 to step up agianst Lacy, he never fought any of the champs at 175 instead he went after guys in thier 40s, PBF could've done more but to say that Slappy leaves fewer questions is pure BULL****. Slappy is a fraud.

:-( And thats why he should be considered an ATG? Only thing missing from his resume is beating a 65 year old version of Ali.

Joe would fit into about 7th place in an all time British list.

For starters, Lennox Lewis, Ken Buchanan, Jimmy Wilde, Bob Fitzsimmons, Benny Lynch are ahead.....

Others can be debated as well.

Perhaps you ought to learn a thing or two about boxing before you shoot your mouth off. Calzaghe was calling out Roy Jones as well as all the other top boxers for years, and for years they avoided him. It wasn't until Lacy took the bait that Calzaghe managed to get a high profile fight. Despite the lack of recognition, Calzaghe had some tough opponents who would have given anybody a hard time.

Let me see for a minute. Joe has been fighting Euro bums and some b level fighters his whole career. He then fight two men who should be pushing walkers ahead of them then says he will retire cause he has nothin left to prove. Seems like the only joke here is Joe's career.
