Thats why he never dissed Kessler, Hopkins or Lacy after.

Calzaghe was terrible against Hopkins, possibly the worst i had ever seen him fight
{ i understand from American posters that Hopkins was also terrible in that fight}

Calzaghe was great against Jones, and i think Jones was far better than what i had expected in that bout, i wrote on here after the fight that version of Roy Jones Jnr would beat anybody in the division with the possible exception of the top 4 or 5.

 

Come on man..Roy was shot...So I guess Tarver's wins over him should be held on higher note because he KO Roy years prior?

joe is right that jones "has something left" and can still beat some people, but he's exaggerating a bit to make himself look good as per usual

whatever...you're entitled to your opinion, but imo jones looked decent through the early to middle rounds vs calzaghe prior to the cut. what does he have left? 1) very good handspeed (compared to other lhws not rjj jr of 1998); 2) decent to average power; 3) good reflexes (don't buy into calzaghe put his chin out there bs...calzaghe put his chin out there when jones was covered up and or not able to punch. and again compared to other lhw's not prime rjj); 4) experience; . If you don't think he can beat some fringe contenders at smw/lhw than to you

 

Joe is only doing this to boost his win over Jones...I mean come on..Roy is a legend no doubt about that but he doesnt have **** left...I respect your opinion but I respectfully disagree..He couldnt even finish a blown up Tito. True he may beat a fringed contender, but whats that? Any old fighter can beat a bum! He is fighting Omar Shieka for christ sakes! O-M-A-R ****ING S-H-I-E-K-A!:rofl:rofl

 

Don't misinterpret what i've been saying because all i've been saying is that jones is not "totally shot" at this point as a lot of people say and he was competitive with calzaghe IMO. No way do i think he'll hold a belt (tho anythings possible in this watered down era) and i think he should retire. As i said in my original post: yes Calzaghe is full of shyte for saying jones is still world champ material - i'm just saying jones is a decent smw/lhw at this stage. jones can still out point say antonio tarver (who's pop has subsided and who too has slowed down but is still probably a top 10 lhw) that's all i'm saying. And I don't think fringe contenders are bums and sheika wasn't a bum, but i have no idea what he has left.
