I bet if it was Joe that beat Ruiz and then moved down and got tore up by Roy, you would discredit the victory because Calzaghe would be weight drained.

 

How would you know Calzaghe would have fought Pavlik for peanuts? That fight is a much bigger fight then Jones in which it's a damn fact and Calzaghe i bet would have got the same amount or more by Fighting Pavlik. It sucks Calzaghe took an easy way out to retired by beating a shot decline Roy Jones.

Jones had PLENTY of time to readjust back down to Light Heavyweight. You act like he fought Ruiz and then was forced to fight at Light Heavyweight 2 weeks later. That was not the case.

What we do know is Calzaghe schooled Jones embarrassed him made him look like a complete joke and he is retired and enjoying his family and money while Jones is reduced to having to fight on obscure PPV's that nobody will watch against awful handpicked opposition. Those are the facts and you need to accept that.

 

Mate he got way more fighting a shot Jones than he ever would fighting Pavlic. They joint promoted the fight. No agents or managers involved. They shared it all PPV revenue the lot 50 50. Pavlic couldnt hope to bring that much to the table.

 

come on Rico u don't think the weight shift had anything to do with it? Jones has been in with great boxers and beat them so convincingly.....but once he dropped back down to light heavy he almost loses a decision and gets knocked out twice in a row......Obviously something went wrong. Don't say Jones has ever been in with a strong punchers before or he has a glass jaw.

 

Jones was already on the physical decline, the weight loss sped it up even faster. Say what you want, Roy has not looked the same ever since the weight, struggling with Hanshaw, not able to finish Trinidad... Being past prime eventually happens to ALL fighters, its not just some excuse Jones fans make.

So what if Calzaghe beat Jones, you said yourself Jones was nothing.... Jones losing to Calzaghe doesn't bother me, that wasn't near the best Jones and you know it.

 

Dude, Calzaghe would still got more fighting Pavlik. Calzaghe could have still co promote himself to fight Pavlik and Calzaghe would have got 60 or 65 percent of the purse by fighting Pavlik then he would have 50 percent for fighting Jones.

 

Jones doesn't HAVE to do anything... He still likes to fight and he can because he is Roy Jones Jr.

Just like he got the fight with Calzaghe, Roy wasn't anywhere near the pound for pound rankings, Calzaghe was in the top 3. He got that fight not because of how he fought but because his name was Roy Jones Jr, people will always want to fight him, he is a legend Rico..... You need to accept that.:good
