Joe Calzaghe has been quoted that if he wins, he will retire undefeated. He was also asked about Pavlik, he responded in that he fought a better fighter in Mikkel Kessler. In his exact words, Calzaghe said, "Pavlik? It's like deja-vu. I was asked the same about Mikkel Kessler-who I think is a better fighter than Kelly Pavlik, by the way- and I've beaten him."

So what are your thoughts on this?

He will be 105 years old by then and i think he can retire fairly safely without being accused of fighting a guy alot younger.

I am not a calzaghe fan but at least when he is gone the fans can go to the classic section :good

He should beat this version of Jones and ride off into the sunset.....or whatever happens at the end of the day in Wales.

No need to hate on the guy in his retirement fight.

I really don't care. Calzaghe is damn near 37 years old. If he wants to call it a career and not fight Pavlik, I have no problem with that.

If he wants to retire then let him be, the man is 37 years old in the end and doesn't really need to stay anymore regardless of what everyone(including myself) thinks of his record.

Funny cos 8 years ago he was claiming he was too young to climb up the weights to fight the likes of Jones. What's Jones excuse if he loses in the upcoming fight and the Calslappy huggers all come on here claiming he was always better than Jones, I wonder?

This guy (Calslappy) is a ****** and a bum, always has been.

The point is that after saying Kelly was basicaly THE fight he is going out of his way to discredit him. That is the cause of the friction here. Put up or shut up. Seems Joe can't do either.

Its ok, Kessler is overrated as well... and once Taylor beats Kessler or even Pavlik beats him then JC will be even more exposed as an overprotected bum.

Why the change of heart for JC? He was calling out Pavlik, he must have come to his senses.

Jones ducked calzaghe, that a fact,,,he priced himself out of the fight...Joe 8 years ago was calling out jones,,,,,

I would like to see joe fight palvik after this fight IF palvik wins, also i think it would be nice for joe to take a gimmie fight in wales,,,,it would be sad for him to end his career in america

If Calzaghe really wanted to challenge himself and cement his legacy even further, he should fight Pavlik. But it's clear he wants nothing to do with Pavlik. As Hopkins would say, "It is what it is". He will be judged accordingly by history. I mean it's not like the guy didn't challenge himself before right?
