What critics? And who cares who they want. Joe's the one who said he wanted Pavlik, only to change his tune. ANd of course you defend anything he says.

Less people might dislike him if he wasn't pulling a DLH with the scripted sound bytes now. No one likes phonies...even if they are talened boxers.

Uhhhh... I think you're on the Calzaghe Mafia hitlist anytime you criticise their beloved Joseph anyway.

I'm not saying he hasn't faced anyone, just that he hasn't been paired with anyone in their prime who was as good as his fans make out.

I don't think it is unfair. A lot of people who criticise fighters don't give them any realistic "outs" to prove themselves. I'm giving Josey one right now. Take the fight with Pavlik.

I still won't be a fan of Joe C's style - but a win over Pavlik would prove he was all as his fans make him to be.

Joe's also the one who's saying he wants Jones now, is that ok?

Point is, it doesn't matter who the hell he faces because people just want him to lose. It's pretty transparent.

Quite correct TFFP. 90% of this board tipped Lacy to beat Calzaghe and then the day AFTER the fight 90% of the board claimed they always knew Lacy was raw/untested/fought nobody etc etc It was f*cking hysterical, they did it without an ounce of embarrasment. They talked sh*t for months about how Cazaghe would get destroyed and then brushed their comments off in about 10 seconds!! Pavlik will be trashed here if Calzaghe beats him.

Absolutely. It means not a jot who Calzaghe is facing, this is the hilarious thing. They are just names - and Great Hopes. They like to hide behind this facade of actually wanting to see Calzaghe "boost his resume" against this guy or that guy, when in reality we know full well they'll retract those sentiments post-fight when Calzaghe has put on a clinic as usual.

    Laughable.

Sure it's OK. As OK as it can be to say a final fight would be disappointing with this guy and then to go and fight him. Especially when you originally say another fighter, and that fighter wants you as well.

No, that's just what you believe. Most nuthuggers think like that. And if he had NOT said that ****, it wouldn't be an issue now. Joe made his bed. No need for you to fix it.

    I want to believe?

I'm not making this **** up. It has actually happened. We call it Lacy amnesia

And lets be honest, Pavlik is not a proven fighter. More proven than Lacy, slightly. He has two good wins over one (vaugely) top level fighter. He has done nothing consistently at the top level against a range of styles that inspires me with confidence that people won't downgrade that win the minute the ref holds Calzaghe's arms aloft

He shouldn't have mentioned Pavlik, or anybody else. But in the grand scheme of things I don't give a **** who he fights in what COULD be his last fight. There is nothing cert, like people act. His resume is pretty much there to judge either way.
