so what. if calzaghe is such a ***** why has no one knocked him out? answer: he's a superior athlete and BOXER and the arguably the greatest SMW ever.

Pavlik's just some Ku Klux Klan mother****er all the yanks nuthug as it's rare for a white american guy to actually be able to fight, let alone box at world level. See: bumfights, the best comedy film of 2004.

The problem is that where will always be someone he is supposed to be ducking.

If he beats Jones and fights Pavlik before retiring then he is ducking Dawson. If he goes on to beat Dawson then there will be someone else. What's he supposed to do? Carry on fighting to please the haters until he is an old man?

He is nearly 37 and a few years past his physical prime so if he wants to retire after Jones then only the haters will have a big problem with it.

Well I'm sure JC couldnt give a crap about what the nobody haters think of him each morning when he gets up a walks around his mansion then goes for a long ride in his flash expensive car! There will always be haters and doubters....no matter who he fights there will always be someone else he needs to fight to prove himself. He's old enough, smart enough and rich enough to know his time to retire is almost here. Good luck to the guy.

He's not ducking anyone. He beat the best SMW Champion the US could offer since Jones, then defeated the young and strong unified champ in Kessler in his own division, SMW, then a P4P-er in Hopkins moving up in weight in Hopkins' country.

Let me ask you guys: Margarito not fighting Hatton in the UK is ducking? Vazquez not fighting Penalosa in The Philippines is ducking? Haye not fighting Dawson is the US is ducking? No. They are not in the same division and not fighting a guy from a lower weigh-division in the opponent's home country is hardly ducking...

You guys say Haye should win something big in the HW division vs. a legitimate HW before calling out Klitschko. But Pavlik doesn't have to fight a legitimate SMW, not a former MW champ, to call out the best?

Well if he does retire, then I guess it'll be up to Pavlik to make a name for himself and not depend on fighting an old past his prime Calzaghe!!

By the way, is Pavlik gonna grow a pair of balls and fight Abraham anytime soon? Or should he even bother with the eurobum?

He hasnt always been a slapper, his incorrect and fast punches are a product of his brittle hands, he needed to adapt his style of fighting partly due to these problems, yeh he always had the movement and the hand speed but he has always had a good left hook and he used to sit down on his punches more too...thats my point !

I've posted twice in other threads.

First, after Lacy, Kelly was focused on MW. Joe was calling out a MW at that time because he had no recognition and assumed he was a can. He didn't have the resume at that point for Joe to call him out. After his MW title? Get real. Pav had a rematch and a mandatory to get out of the way. Once he cleared the deck, Cal changed his mind. Cuz he wants his precious.....

I think Bernard will make Calzaghe's decison that much easier.

I'd prefer to see RJ fight Calzaghe than Pavlik, because Jones is a special talent and I want to see if he can pull out one last great performance.

Not the same as a 168 pounder calling out a 160 pounder and then NOT taking the fight. Negotiations were under way with their managers. So Joe had to fire his to get out of backing up his call. It is what it is. Joe calling out a smaller guy and then ducking out to take on a guy that he said in his own autobiography was shot. No other way to paint it really.
