Calzaghe says he will stay at 168 for Pavlik!

I am not a Calzaghe fan. I was supporting Lacy when they fought. And I wont be shedding any tears if Kessler beats him either. And what has ten years ago got to do with anything?
You were saying that Pavlik would KO Eubank. No he wouldn't. And the fact that you think a flat footed, plodder like Pavlik could step up a weight and easily beat someone as fast and strong and well rounded as Calzaghe tells me all I need to know about your grasp of boxing.

I am objective in how I watch the sport, I am a big Hatton fan and think he will lose to PBF by either a WIDE UD or late TKO.
I do not need to like Calzaghe to see that he is a top tier talent who would box rings around someone as slow and one paced as Pavlik.

If Pavlik beats a Kessler who has beaten Joe and Bute, say in a year's or 15 moths time, Pavlik will have become truly something - but he would need to improve a lot in the meantime...A LOT. :deal

 

Impossible, and it's unlikely that Pavlik steps in the ring with Joe.

Joe will fight Bute or head to 175, I have said this many times. Assuming that he wins on November 3rd.

 

Everyone that looks at Pavlik tape, says the same thing. This guy is slow and sloppy, and is an average, regular fighter, until they get in the ring with him. He isnt pretty, but its not about that unless you wanna impress judges and try to get a BS decision. Fact is , that he has KO'd 28 of 31 opponents, and these arent tomatoe cans that were put in front of him to puff up his record! His previous 6 fighters had never been knocked out before and he Knocked them out. Pavlik makes no excuses, he goes in there and finishes what he started. Talk is cheap and Pavlik has answered all his critics, Calzaghe has yet to do this and hes at the end of his career! Too little too late.

And Joe should do the right thing. If he wins on the 3rd, he should dispatch Bute in a great fight and go for Dawson at 175. We will once more write poetry to sing his praises!:deal

Joe said he has 2-3 fights left, if he did get Pavlik, it'd be 3 fights left and the other two in Bute and Dawson would still get offers.

It'd just be an easy fight against the historical undisputed champ, it's not a bad thing, he's not going to not fight other good legacy fights considering there is only 3 left if he beats Kessler, but it'd sure set him up for a showdown with Dawson if he smashed Pavlik in 5 mate.

Realistically Pavlik would be a good money maker and good set up for a final mega fight or two, but it WONT happen.

 

The Kessler fight will show where Calzaghe really is right now. If he beats Kessler I hope he keeps his word and makes the Pavlik fight. This might be all talk though, he has called out Taylor, Winky, and Hopkins and those fights haven't happened because he's unwilling to fight outside the UK to prove his greatness.

Those 3, including oldman Bernard, do not want this fight.

I understand that. The Undisputed Middleweight (MW+SMW) Champ would have a great ring to Joe.

For me, as long as after Kessler he fights at least one of Dawson and Bute, in that order, I don't care too much if he decides to rematch Manfredo! However, time is catching up with Joe...I doubt that he would fight another THREE after Kessler. I assumed that the three included this present one, with Kessler. Dawson is good and getting better. Bute too...early 2009 fight against Dawson or even Bute just doesn't make sense for Joe...he would be too old! No?
