Stop hatin' Calz fought and beat the very best of his era. He could've have possibly fought a prime toney or jones at 68 because he was an unranked 4 or 5 fight pro at the time. Ask yourself this. After 97 when joe beat eubank for the WBO strap, where were RJJ and toney? RJJ was tearing the lightheavyweight division and was a superstar, and james toney had already grown out of the 68 class and wasn't even a player on the main stage. There was NOBODY for joe to fight, but he did try to make a 2001 fight with hopkins in which hopkins publicly ducked joe.
Joe, is the best SMW of all time, and not a fringe ATG. But a G.O.A.T.
168'er and an undisputed 175lb champ.

P.S. he'd of handily decisioned the man in your avi had they have fought in thier primes. Toney hated quick volume punchers. See tiberi, RJJ

Joe 117-111 over toney at 168 or 175

Zag said in his autobiography that they nearly had a deal in place for him to fight Hopkins, but Hopkins pulled out.

I can't remember what exactly he said about RJJ, but it was something about wanting to fight clean fighters, not those who've used steroids. I might be wrong on that though.

This isn't Calzaghe's fault. Calzaghe's manager wanted to entertain his wallet more than boxing fans. You can't blame Calzaghe for who he fought, he was managed by Frank "The Wanker" Warren! Personally, the only wins that stand out to me are Eubank, Kessler and Hopkins and to be honest, Eubank wasn't that good, he has a decent punch and chin - he even said that himself. It was sad to see Calzaghe v Jones. Jones moved like a slow robot compared to his prime-self, if it was prime v prime, I couldn't say who would win (I'm not a mystic) but it would have been fun to watch!

Joe isn't known - so he can't even be forgotten.
