Said last fight if he beats Jones Jr, said Kessler is a better fighter than Pavlik, said its ironic that Pavlik is calling him out now cos Calzaghe had arranged to fight Pavlik after the Lacy fight and Kelly turned it down

    no he didn't lol

    heres the interview

Joe Calzaghe has reiterated his claim that his November 8 showdown with Roy Jones Jr., which will be shown exclusively Live on Setanta Sports, will 'probably' be his last.

Despite ongoing speculation that The Pride of Wales might agree to a bout with Kelly Pavlik next year, Calzaghe is once again intimating that his clash with Jones will be his farewell fight.

This bout will not be pay-per-view but it is only available to Setanta Sports subscribers. Click here for details on how to sign up.

Indeed, whilst speaking at a Setanta Sports press conference in which it was confirmed that Madison Square Garden will be the venue for this 'super-fight', Calzaghe stated: "It’s fantastic to be on Setanta Sports again and fighting in such a massive fight, against Roy Jones Jr.

"It’s no secret that this will probably be my last fight, so what better way to go out than by fighting one of the best fighters of the past 25 years. And at Madison Square Garden, too, so it's fantastic.

”There’s just over 12 weeks to go now so I’ll start serious training from Monday on.

”So, I’m really looking forward to the fight. It’s going to be a tremendous night and I want to go out and make sure I fight a brilliant fight.

”I wasn’t that happy with my last fight, the win over Bernard Hopkins. Styles make fights that that clash didn’t make for a good fight.

”But Roy Jones doesn’t like to hold and I don’t like to hold – so I think that there’ll be fireworks.”

When pressed on his future by Setanta Sports presenter Paul Dempsey, Calzaghe added: "I'm pretty sure it will be my last fight.

"There are always question marks but as long as I go out and produce a performance and win this fight, well, then I'll feel like I've achieved everything I want to achieve in boxing.

"It's a mistake many fighters make: just fighting for the money. They eventually get beaten but how many fighters retire undefeated? Very, very few.

"To get out undefeated means more to me than money. It will be my last fight," he said, laughing.

And Calzaghe is extremely excited by the prospect of bowing out with a win over former pound-for-pound king Jones.

”To be honest, he’s one of my favourite ever fighters. He’s a tremendous fighter, a four-weight world champion. What he’s achieved is incredible," Calzaghe stated on Setanta Sports News.

”Obviously, he had a few defeats, against Tarver [twice] and Glen Johnson, but he came back, like all great fighters do and proved a lot of people wrong, including myself.

”He’s had three good wins, including an excellent win against Trinidad. So this is redemption for him and, believe me, he’s going to come into this fight with a tremendous will to win.

”So I have to match that and not get complacent, going in there and thinking I’m going to knock this guy out.”

Of course, Calzaghe had originally been set to fight Jones in September but the Newbridge southpaw was forced to withdraw after injuring his right wrist in training.

Happily, Calzaghe says he will be fighting fit for their rescheduled bout.

”The hand is fine," he insisted. "I sprained it and had to rest it for three weeks but the three weeks is up now so I’ll be able to start punching again with it next week.

”I can foresee no trouble with it. Unfortunately, I had to pull out of the September date, and that was no surprise that I had to pull out of a fight!

”But maybe if I didn’t pull out of fights when I’m injured, maybe I wouldn’t be undefeated today.

”Believe, I want my two hands 100 percent ready for this fight.”

Kessler doesn't want to fight real fighters, he proved that when he ducked Miranda. Abraham doesn't want to fight Pavlik, the Pavlik camp has tried, but he is busy fighting bums.

Calzaghe should enjoy his spot in the limelight, it won't be long until he is forgotten.

Calzaghe actually said it is ironic that Pavlik is calling him out because he tried to arrange a fight with Pavlik after the Lacy fight. That makes no sense. Calzaghe fought Lacy in March of 2006. Kelly fought Bronco McKart in July of that year. Why would Calzaghe call out a guy who was scheduled to fight a has been in McKart? Pavlik had no name recognition in the beginning of '06. If Calzaghe really said this, he is really desperate to come up with excuses to not fight Kelly. If he can remember correctly, he called out Kelly on several occasions before Kelly ever called him out. I think his dad told him not to fight Pavlik after seeing first hand what Kelly did to his stablemate Lockett. He does not want his son to suffer a royal beatdown.

    Negator.

Pavlik is ready made for Calzaghe. He eats up come forward, conventional fighters. If he fights Pavlik after Jones I bet you he scores a heavier points victory against Pavlik.

If he is ready made why did Calzaghe stop calling him out after he beat the breaks off Lockett? Why did he run back to Roy after he saw what Kelly did? ready made my ass, get off Calzaghe's nuts.
