Joe is past the point of improving. He can really only fine tune at this point in his career. Who ever he is sparring with wont get him ready to fight Hopkins. hopkins is one of a kind and Joe will find that out next month.
Hopkins is old school. He hits people on the hips, the shoulders, the neck, the tights if he can get away with it.
No no he is not. Prime-Prime Calzaghe vs Hopkins is a great fight now. Joe is going to give him a doing, .
If Calzaghe get beaten, I shall give Hopkins all the credit in the world. However, Calzaghe is going to beat Hopkins badly :deal
I just can't understand how one should receive instructions and advice from Barry McGuigan to fight careful of the right jab against someone like Jeff Lacy and then overlook an opponent like Hopkins. I mean, there is no comparison between Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins... Calzaghe should definitely be sparring against a shorter sparring partner and one that is used to fight against the best light-heavies in America. He is clearly convinced that Hopkins will not present more problems than Kessler did, and Warren is saving some dollars with sparring partners.
And with what info do you have that says JC is overlooking Hop? I dont think JC plces to much emphasis on sparring for starters, his ability to adjust in the ring is on a par with the best anyway, and I seriously doubt a pro like JC is overlooking his maiden voyage to the states against a seasoned vet like Bhop
So you say that he doesn't need to adjust his body position to a given opponent before a fight? He doesn't need to punch hard on his sparring partners but he needs to create more than a virtual image of his opposition and develop methodic approaches to attack this guy... Floyd took on Baldo to emulate Hatton's pressure offense, everybody needs to spar and as effectively as possible.
