Dawson is a nobody who has never fought top-of-the-bill in the UK, therefore the British fans havent had any exposure to him and therefore the fight shouldnt happen and Dawson should be labelled as a bum until he fights in Europe if not the UK against someone more meaningful than Jamie Hearn or whatever his name is. This sound familiar?
Are you saying that Dawson is in the same boat as Calzaghe? British boxing fans have heard of Dawson, the general public had never heard of Kessler, nor had they heard of Paulie Malignaggi, yet they knew/will know who they are come fight night due to it being all over the papers. Especially where Hatton and Calzaghe are concerned, it becomes like a national event, Dawson will be sufficiently hyped and much will be made of his win over Antonio Tarver. I can see it know 'he beat the man who beat Roy Jones twice'. That will be enough to get Joe Public interested. And if the Kessler fight can fill the Millennium stadium, the Dawson match would create demand for more tickets then that.

I think it doesn't help boxing when the few Elite fighters hunt great names. The time of Roy Jones, De la Hoya, Rahman or Morales is over. Give fighters like Dawson, Varelo or Abraham their chance. Look at pacquiao, he took his chance agains a Elite fighter and is now one of the most popular boxers. Let a new era begin
