Yes - he signed a deal for Hatton to box on Sports Network shows on ITV.

That was before Hatton was even on a deal with Sports Network!!

Well the head of setanta used to be the head of sport at ITV, and he as always spoken very highly of Warren. I cant see frank having a problem with then signing with US promoter. just other UK fighters.

Will be intresting to see what buncey has to say in thursday???

It does seem odd, bearing in mind TV are able to sign whoever they want!

The deal between Setanta and Top Rank will have had some effect on Sports Network, as they have been getting away with delivering **** shows for some time - and the prospect of Miguel Cotto, Kelly Pavlik, Manny Pacquiao et al on British mainstream TV would have fans clinging to their seats!

The top rank deal has little affect of Sport Network. The british title fights generate as much revenue as the world title fights at 3am so theres no comparison.

the promlem for warren is that Setanta signed with Warren when they had 3 world champions (Calzaghe, Rees, Macca) potentially 5 (Khan and Arthur) and now they have just 1. thats not gonna make them happy.

Frank has deleiverd big time in the last 12 months i.e Calzaghe vs Hopkins/Kessler and Haye vs Macca but without Calzaghe and without Khan, hes hasnt got much going for him.

I think we shall see Khan signing with Setanta now as Calzaghe was the big star for setanta to sell subcriptions on now. Khans the only man in the stable that can do it cos Arhtur, Rees, Mitchell, Macceranelli, Pryce sure cant.

It doesn't make a great deal of difference at this stage...

    Surprised all the same.

i pissed myself when i read this.

i'm assuming joe has had the correct legal advice and won't find himself sidelined with a court case like what happened with hatton.

poor frank. he was going to lose joe anyway, but i'm sure he wanted to stage a grand final show for his man.

tbh, as sad as it is, khan will probably sell as many setanta subscriptions as joe.

i dont see why its sad. he is britains top prospect by a long way. and is also our most exciting fighter along with Haye.

Kinda surprised but its only for one last fight.

I seriously doubt Calzaghe is scared to face Pavlik. Joe just seems to be set on this bumper Jones payday.

HBO need to dismiss Jones and up the $$$ for a Calzaghe vs Pavlik clash to make it a reality.

i just meant sad in that khan a pro of a couple of years is better known than our longest reigning world champ. agree with him being one of our most exciting fighters though

Yes I saw that on the Boxing Scene website. Apparently he has issues to be resolved with Warren - speculation that Calzaghe is owed money from the Hopkins contest, etc....

Arum said Warren wanted this fight and was still trying to make it. Next thing we know, Warren is toast. Not much to figure out here.

Pavlik called out Joe, pavliks trainer called out Joe, pavliks promoter called out joe and warren wanted the fight also. Now warrens fired. Give me a break. Joes not afraid of Pavlik huh?

Calzaghe is quoted as saying "There are issues to be resolved with my former promoter Frank Warren and I hope they can be done so amicably."

Frank Warren has always claimed he considers Joe a friend. Lets see if it stays that way.
