lol who has Pavlik beat recently to make calzaghe so terrified? Lockett? comon Joe prolly murdered him in the gym on a weekly basis.

People said Joe was scared of the big young challenge in the form of Kessler..but he fought and beat him.

Theres always going to be one more fight with someone coming through....and if the aging 36 year old doesnt take it hes a ducker?

If Calzaghe isn't pulling some slick negotiating manouvre then he's just decreased his best chance of maximizing his dosh by clearly stating his only intention is to fight Roy Jones... what kind of dumbass move is that as a negotiation move? The first rule is to not show your hand too soon. Unless he's trying to lure Pavlik in with a weighty offer, he's being a dick.

As for the unresolved issues with Warren, I heard that Calzaghe had a verbal agreement with Frank that he would be promoting his last fight. Obviously no contract was signed though. The issue must be about the money from the Hopkins fight I would imagine.

Just seems like Calzaghe is already retired and the Jones fight is simply a pension payment.

Is there any possibility that Frank owes Joe for 100 seats at the Hopkins' fight, best views, only 150% face value?

If there is I'd like to officially instate it as an internet rumour please.

No doubt Warren will come out with **** like "Calzaghe is ducking Pavlik" in one of his infamous articles once the dust has settled

Smart move from Joe. He's made Warren enough money, and he wants a larger cut of the pie from Jones.

I don't know if you saw my earlier post but I said that Warren has always claimed to consider Joe a friend. We'll see if he sticks by that statement now wont we? Warren really be pinning all his hopes on Khan after this.

Any idiot can call someone out. Can someone PLEASE tell me WTF Kelly Pavlik has done that makes him so scary? He's fought 2 world class boxers in a pretty poor division and struggled to beat one of those. Don't get me wrong, he's a decent fighter but to say Calzaghe is scared of Pavlik is ****ing laughable.

I actually agree with you here Gaz & to be honest, after initially getting caught up in the hype of wanting to see the fight, my interest in a Ghost/JC bout has waned. Theres a big fight at 160 between Pavlik & Abraham that I'd much rather see.

I see no harm with one big send off fight with Jones as long as people realise it has almost no bearing on what would have happened between them when Roy was in his prime.

I dunno. If Calzaghe knows out Roy Jones, as I believe he will, we should be inclined to favour him in a mythical prime matchup.

We'll do a poll nearer the time. See how many people agree with you on that one. We can tag a WBO poll on as well.:good

You seem almost sorry that you have to agree with me Dan...;)

Roy would have flatten JC prime for prime, but theres no harm in Calzaghe earning a few bob and putting a nice (if slightly tainted) win on his record. Pavlik will still be avalialble for the next fight if Joe decides to fight on.
