While I agree that fraud is a little harsh, I think most will agree that Calzaghe and Froch are 2 different animals.

Honestly, I think that has very little to do with it. For my part, I was rooting for Calzaghe vs Hopkins. I had him winning and was glad he won. However, it was a disappointing performance against a venerable opponent and he was lucky to get the win.

I didn't even bother to watch the Jones fight. Such was the regard I had for the matchup.

The reason Calzaghe isn't "forgiven" is because he went from obscure regional champion who fought the low hanging fruit of an obscure division to being trumpeted by his fans and himself as an ATG and a legend killer. All this happened in the span of 3 or 4 fights.

After the Lacy fight, he seemed to be on his way. And after Kessler, his dominance of the division couldn't be denied. After that, the fight vs Hopkins, and then Jones and then out. Disappointing. Not enough to overcome the lack of peak competition during the prime of his career. Thing is, I still think he could've and would've beaten almost everyone who was around his weight at the time. But retirement just seemed to reinforce those who were calling out his resume as soft. It bolstered the argument that he picked safe opponents, was overly protective of his "0", had bogus stoppages etc, etc.

Anyway, has little or nothing to do with American nationalism, and a lot to do with the fact that Calzaghe was a terrific fighter, and a good champ, but should not be over played based on his "0".

But no, Froch isn't better than Calzaghe. I think Calzaghe would've beaten him handily.

Calzaghe would wipe the floor with Froch, gauging on his overwhelming display against Jeff Lacy.

Calzaghe was so bad to watch he made me want to vomit , but speed is Carls nemesis so as much as it pains me to say peak for peak , Joe wins.

I respect Froch's mentality more than I respect Calzaghe's, but Calzaghe's performance vs Kessler was simply better than Froch's performance vs Kessler. I don't really understand how you can think otherwise.

    Lack of knowledge again.
Why would Calzaghe of swerved his belt? Why lose money, by not having a title to bargain with? Makes no sense.
Veit was world rated and after losing to Calzaghe had not lost since and beaten Salem, Lock and world rated Brewer, and was sporting a record of 45-1. Calzaghe beat Veit away in Germany. So it may have been a mismatch in that Joe was far better but Veit was a world rated opponent that Calzaghe beat away, and who went on after Calzaghe beat him to beat future title challenger Perdermo and undefeated Braehmer who is now WBO LHW champ

    froch is far superior.

better fighter, can actually punch properly unlike calzaghe.is fighting all the best and away from home.winning big, entertaining, and clinically.

if i was a judge i wouldnt give him any rounds in any of his fights, simply becuse he never threw clean proper effective punches.

froch has not built his career on fighting past thier best fighters, and fighting at home, with only a couple of wins vs ok opposition who were shown to be over hyped themselves.

calzaghe probably the most over rated of all time.
ducked froch, retired for no reason, didnt want one last big fight vs froch in his home country of wales!.

someone retiring undefeated doesnt mean they were great, often means they ducked and dodged the best and toughest fights out there.

It's not his style that gets criticized as much as it is his resume.
