Interesting excerpt from the Independent from Joe regarding his prepartion for matches. He is going to whip on Jones.

"He throws his head back and laughs when I mention the old gym. "Yeah, a shed with no ring. I'm proud that I trained there till 2001, and it's a shame they had to knock it down. Two [heavy] bags, that's all we had there. It just goes to show that you don't need state-of-the-art. What do I do to get fit? I run up these hills, and I do sit-ups. I never do weights, I ain't got a fitness coach, I ain't got a physio..."

I think theres more to it than just that, next he will be telling us he runs up mountains in the thick snow ala Rocky 4.

He must have loads of expert advice.

You can excel by training nearly any way. Its not how you train its how hard you train. However there are ways of training that do seem to work the best for certain goals. So it comes down to what you want, how much you want it, and how hard your willing to work to get it. Those three things add up to probably 90% of what you gain from what your doing, the other 10% is how your doing it.

    Agree.

Working hard on Roadwork, Floorwork and Gymwork seems to work great for Calzaghe and most of the ATGs over the years.

Call me a cynic but i still think that behind the scenes he will have a dietician, physio, fitness experts helping him.

Can you imagine how much he'd improve on his punching power if he did some serious weight training?
