After Hopkins Calzaghe will go and EXPOSE Chad Dawson to shut people up or maybe Tarver should he win because Tarver beat Roy so historically it looks better for Joe.
If JC beat Hopkins, goes back to 168 and beat Pavlik and Wright then retire undefeated, I would seriously consider ranking him within top 15 P4P ATG (which could only go up with passing time).
Calzaghe, who is now a LHW, keeps calling Pavlik's name, and gets a pass for calling out a guy two divisions below him. What if Pavlik started calling out Cotto in every ****ing interview he does???? You guys would be all over it like stink on ****, but Joe gets a pass! What's with the double standards???? Boo
Yes, Pav had a fight at the contractually agreed 166 limit, last time. But after their upcoming scheduled fights, they will have been at 160 and 175, respectively.
I really hope so. Fighting undefeated, respected young fighters would be great for Joe and boxing fans.
Not really. Pavlik has to keep his walk around weight lower than Joe. These guys are top athletes. They don't carry fat. They carry muscle. Kelly can fight at 168 at the bell. (169 for jt 2) Joe can't. He cuts too much just to make weigh in. I don't see Pavlik taking top fights at 168 until he knows he is saying good bye to 160 and makes the weight adjustment.
Honestly I hope you're right. I would rather he cement his legacy at 160; fight Abraham and Winky. It's like I've said many times before. Joe obviously feels like he needs Pavlik. Kelly is only 25, and does not need Joe at all. And, when he does move up he should fight a couple "B" level guys before he goes after the big boys. Boxing is a business, and as a sport it is VERY unforgiving. Top Rank should handle Pavlik's future the same way they handled his career to this point, and that means brains must take precedence over quick money and machismo. Boo
Because since the Wright and Spinks fights - people weren't really high on Taylor. But Pavlik is the story of an average Joe from smallville, who beat the former hype job. He has all the qualities to be a popular fighter: 1) He can knock people out. 2) He can take it on the chin. 3) He is a story of the "american dream" 4) He fears no one. 5) Humble guy, yet aware of his abilities to knock people flat. If Pavlik continues to make a name for himself - Ethan Hawke will be starring in "Pavlik: The story of the smallville ghost".
Now see, the Pavlik faithful have been very respectful of Lockett so far, do you really want us to start unloading back on him or keep it cool?? **Nevermind, I see that was your whopping 3rd post.
Pavlik needs this more than Joe does. If Joe gets past Hops, which I think he will, he has the option of Jones for a massive name and payday or Woods (again if he wins) in a big UK fight. Pavlik, on the other hand, if he doesn't take the fight no matter what he achieves in his career will always live with people saying ahh yeah but he wouldn't take on an old JC. Had the chance to fight a legend (of sorts) and didn't man up to the callenge etc etc. Its shitty, but thats how it goes.
