With the exception of Judah-who sucks, Taylor who I dont think has done enough and would be more like neck and neck with Calzaghe right now, and Hamed. I agree with you.

I said from the second that this fight came up that it was a dumb fight for Calzaghe. He would get no credit for winning and would be crushed if he loses. It would be a candle on the cake for jones if he wins and means nothing if he loses.

No I think it shows that you know very little about boxing to even use the word crap in the same sentence as Calzaghe. Most people slate his resume, but there is very little intelligent argument against his skills which he has in abundance. The man can be an absolute joy to watch, and a warrior. Flawed, yes, but he still battles through and emerges triumphant. He gets a lot of stick from moronic Americans who can't stand any fighters from the Old World being successful.

Alas, I don't care about ATG, it's pathetic to debate it. Real playground ****. All I know is Calzaghe is one of the most talented boxers in the world right now. Arguments against this are laughable, he could box a scarecrow and you could still work that out. Madon'!

you say calzaghe has skills in abundance but don't name any, so would you please name some, he can't punch straight, has very little power, can't counterpunch, what is his skills?

he's not a KO puncher, but he accumulates his combo's and they land so fast that he gets his KO's. They dont come so often nowadays as he's getting older and has never had teh best hands. So what? He's 36 years old. Ask Kessler if his punches hurt, and dig out the Eubank quote about his speed. Boxing is a sport, KO's are funny/awesome but just because Joe can't knock people out anymore doesnt mean he's any less worthy of his P4P spot.

His handspeed is on a world level, and footwork/stamina/workrate are on a par with anybody, even today. Oh and he has a solid chin. Not immune to flash knockdowns (who is?) but he can take a beating and still not relent. Kessler/Bika fight - evidence.

    1. Calzaghe's resume can't put himup there with the best in this era (this era being anyone who has fought after 2000)

    2. IMO, His skill level is very good but not great as he is often matched with fighters that suit his style. How many class fighters has he faced that have fast hands and good agility? Not many.

    3. I rate these fighters better P4P;

    Roy Jones
    Floyd M.Jr
    Oscar
    Shane Mosley
    Kostya Tszyu
    Bernard Hop
    Trinidad
    Pacman

and that's just the top of the crew.

When your greatest achievements are Kessler, Lacy and an old man posing as Hopkins then you've got problems.

I am aware this is a total joke thread...but to be serious for a second, Calzaghe is FAR from the best of his generation. But have your fun....

    I agree with Uppercut.

I can see where people may have him in their Top 10 but no higher than 6.
I can see him being comfortably in the Top 20.

And I can see reasons why people might not even put him there.

Thanks. This has been my avatar my whole time at ESB (except for a few tributes to deceased fighters). My trademark, basically.
