I believe that Calzaghe is the best of his generation, even better than Floyd. His record does not stand up to Floyd’s, I will certainly concede that. But watching the man in the ring, I am prepared to set aside arguments over opposition and state for the record that I believe he is the most talented, well rounded and versatile fighter I’ve seen in a long, long time. His speed, his stamina, his punch resistance, his movement, his boxing brain, all flawless. He can box, he can brawl, he can do it all.

    Joe Calzaghe I salute you.

Why isn't Jones considered a part of "Calzaghe's generation"? Surely Floyd has to be considered the more accomplished of the two...anyway neither of them, or Pacman is finished yet, so we'll just have to wait I suppose!

There's always at least one asshat ruining every thread. You will do ANYTHING possible to discredit a master boxer. It's sickening. Lacy was supposed to KO Calzaghe. Almost everyone predicted it. Don't lie and say you didn't. Age should have been an advantage (remember a young Mike Tyson?)...

Eubank is a legend. He gave Joe his hardest fight to date. Kessler was a 39-0 champ, again, tipped as a strong fighter that could probably KO Joe.

You don't know **** about boxing.

If you do not appreciate Calzaghe, you do not appreciate boxing. That's pretty much all there is to it.

Blah blah ****ing blah. As usual.

I have only one thing to say to you. People like you are ruining boxing.

"If you look at his fights, wouldn't you call him a slapper?" ~ Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy... BEFORE fighting Joe Calzaghe.

If I can make my point better, I will ADD to a post, not "edit a thread after every 2 minutes". Exaggerating does not make your argument stronger.

No, I am not "comparing" Lacy to Tyson.

Try reading AND thinking next time.

Calzaghe has acccomplished a lot in boxing in my opinion he is on par with B HOP and that is a great honor what flyod mayweather has done is incredible fighting through all those weight classes, joe has never been able to do such acomplishment as making 160 would drain him and he wasnt finished in what he wanted to do at super middle! 10 years at champion and 21 title defenses is quite a achivement! Joe Calzaghe was expected to lose to jeff lacy and mikkel kessler and even chris eubank was a favourite against joe, all fighters with recognition and praise from critics! BHOP fought Tito trinidad who was favourite to beat B HOP aswell as a unlucky loss to Roy Jones Jr he has fought Winky Wright , anonio Tarver ,Oscar de la hoya, but you can give joe a strong argument for the top spot along with Roy jones and B HOP

so my list of greats of our generation

    1) Mayweather
    2) Calzaghe
    3) B HOP
    4) Roy Jones Jr

Mr. FRKO I understand your frustration...However even though I'm a big fan of Joe..The title of this thread implies bull****...Calzaghe the best?? I'll be honest he's the greatest SMW champion hands down and I'm rooting for him to crush Popkins...Even the most dellusional Mayweather fan can't hold a candle to fans of Joe C...So while you may be a big fan which is great I must concede that their are Joe fans that not so much ruin boxing...just this forum with their almost unexplainable abandonment of logic and childishness.....It's as if these swingers are incapable of displaying their loyalty no matter how devout without being out of this world ignorant...I thought brits were supposed to be intelligent and articulate??
Best of luck Joe even though you won't need it:good

Jones is a heavyweight titlist. How can you justify having him behind Bernard Hopkins?

Disrespect ,how? i said i compare Joe to Bernard Hopkins which is a great honor, yes his achivements are exactly similar to calzaghes 10 years champion and 21 title defenses to BHOP 20! now oppostition! Oscar de la hoya a great fighter but out of his depth when he fought BHOP evreyone new that! antonio tarver a great win so was the winky fight maybe a little more contravershal than the others but a great win! Tito trinidad a great win a performance of a legend! I give all respect i can to bhop! now why disrespect joe calzaghe a undefeated champion for 10 years with 21 title defense! for avoiding those fights at 160! when joe calzaghe could never of made the weight and at 175 there was only roy jones jr was already set on doing what he wanted to do! Joe calzaghe has always fought fighters who have been ranked in the top 10 super middle weight! ok so there not huge names but when looking back on his career his wins against lacy, eubank , and kessler will all show how great a boxer he was

It's undeniable that BHops big wins were over welterweights though. Even winky aint no middle
