I'm going to try and help you Mr E, with an example of your difficulties in understanding things.

Lets rewind this. Adequate does not equate to world class in your mind, and you class Mitchell and Brewer as adequate, and Reid as never world class and/or adequate.

You have quoted me saying Reid was adequate. Somehow, you took from that that I said he wasn't adequate. See what you did here? A strange error. Thinking adequate means not adequate.

PACFAN is right on half of the equation. Even if Joe C. did fight Calzaghe it wouldn't mean anything, because he wasted too much time in his career. He will never be an elite because he has only had 1 legitimate fights in his career against an elite fighter, Hopkins. That is no where near enough.

You said I was stupid and spelled a 6-letter word wrongly in your insult- drawing attention to that is irony.

Going wild over absent commas and incorrect quoting formats are evidence of an insane grammar-obsessed maniac!!! Go read some perfectly written, spelled and punctuated literature to help you calm down and forget about these nasty posters and their scepticism toward the legend of Calzaghe!!!!!!!!!!

Steady on there Dave! I'm being portrayed as enough of a Calzaghe hater without that sort of support!! I think he beat a succession of poor to adequate opposition for 9 years, then panicked that he had wasted his career, and fought 3 world class (1 of those was a great who was still highly competent but well past his best and without adequate stamina to compete in terms of workrate) opponents. Two of those fights he won well. Kudos. The last he performed poorly in but still sneaked a victory. Fair enough. And my whole point is, that's not enough to be considered an elite fighter of his generation. Fin.

I take it those 3 would be Hopkins, Kessler and Lacy?

So Lacy is world class and Brewer, Reid and Mitchell aren't? Oh dear, you really do know **** all about boxing.

Before the Calzaghe fight, you would've said Lacey was world-class too. I saw him fight twice on tv and thought he was a beast at 168! I see the root of your trouble here tho: you are fixating on the number of meaningless defences these guys had again, aren't you? What have you been told? That is not concrete proof of a fighter's quality, or Ottke was the best fighter of 21st century. Lacey may prove to have been a 1-year wonder, but he was a great opponent for Calzaghe at the time.

The problem is of course that Eubank, Reid, Brewer, Sheika, Mitchell and Woodhall were not "1-year wonders" they were world class fighters who you are trying to conveniently ignore to try and put Calzaghe down.

Your hate for him really has got the better of you.

Chris Eubank was world class in the early 90s, not in 1997 after his two lickings by Steve Collins. That is a fact.
I don't understand your need for me to say Robin Reid, Richie Woodhall and Charles Brewer were world class (I'm not even touching the mention of Sheika), I do not think they were, simple as that. I didn't think it at the time despite any trinkets they had held for any length of time, I don't think it now. Adequate opposition for mandatories etc. Lacey was undefeated, it was a unification fight, and we had all seen evidence of his KO prowess before that fight, and the bookies odds reflected this. No hate here, just opinion.

I don't need you to say it. Their olympic medals and world titles and resumes speak for themselves. I'm quite content to watch you carry on making yourself look a fool by denying it though.

Instead of arguing, lets look at the record and long illustrious title reigns and undefeated streaks of your 'world class' opponents:

Charles Brewer 40-11, held IBFsupermiddle for 1 year, had been knocked out by Lonnie Bradley, Rafael Williams and lost another 6 fights before he fought Calzaghe at age of 33

Robin Reid, 39-6, held WBC title for 1 year, Calzaghe won by split decision, 1 of his 6 losses was a TKO defeat to Lacy

Richie Woodhall, 26-3, held WBC title for 1 year after winning it by decision over Thulane Malinga (aged 43 and 42-10 record at the time)

World class opposition?? The stuff an ATGs resume is made of?? Don't make me laugh.

Owned. So very very owned. Should've done this hours/pages ago.

PS: Olympic medals? Grow up. Amateur careers mean nothing in the pro game amigo.

Nah, I didn't expect a reply to that one LiamE. Your argument was feeble from the start, you should've packed it in ages ago. Utter imbecile.
