Pac hasn't even been >> Marquez in the last 2.5 years. Pac has written more thank you cards to Duane Ford, yes, he has done that very well.

Well i start to getting used to these type of threads here. I'm not shocked anymore, have seen worse threads here.:rasta

About Calzaghe: He is off course not the best. But i wouldnt downplay his resume. His resume is pretty decent. And no, no one needs to again post his opponents, i know them very well. I think it is kind of unfair not to give him respect for his win against Lacy. People are acting now as if Lacy was a stay busy fight. I remember the pre fight discussions very well, my friends. But after the fight it was all like "i told you so....":yep
Someone pointed out that Calzaghe wasnt big enough to get the big fights a few years ago. Well, thats bad luck, i would say. He was sitting in GB with Warren, and was obviously satisfied with it. Who prevented Calzaghe and Warren from fighting in the US to get him more known over here? A few years back many european WBO champs felt quite comfortable not fighting outside of the country, let alone their continent. Michalchewski, Ottke, Calzaghe, Maske..all the same breed. At least Calzaghe saw the light (a little bit) and there is a tendency european promoters wants their fighters more known in america which is a good thing.

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl at this whole thread.

Harder to stay on top? Not when you're the WBO champ it isn't, and for 8 years or so that's all Calslappy was.

I've seen worse threads than this also. If the thread starter doesnt know that boxing exists outside of his country, then its acceptable

One can argue that Pac beat Marquez in the 2nd fight. Just because alot of people thought JMM won, doesn't mean its the stone cold truth. Especially since alot of people thought it could've gone either way.

If you wanna go by that route, I might as well bring up the Calzaghe-Hopkins bout in which alot of people thought Hopkins won.

In the last 2.5 years, Pac has fought and beaten more top fighters than Calzaghe did. Solis, Morales, Barrera, and Marquez(arguably). Calzaghe has only fought and beaten Kessler and Hopkins(arguably). No one else.

If anyone has written more thank you letters, its Calzaghe for being allowed to fight nobodies and bums during his 10 year reign. Yes he has done that very well.

More people thought Marquez won than Hopkins I'm afraid. Many more.

But Calzaghe didn't get knocked out by bodyshots to any of those bums did he? :hey

Wow nice rebuttal. I'm speechless. :verysad

And my point about Marquez and Hopkins is people can't just bring out those fights to prove that either Pac or Joe are not great for not beating them convincingly. The fact of the matter is those fights were very close and could've gone either way. So anybody could make a case about Pac winning against Marquez and vice versa, or Joe winning against Bernard and vice versa.

So again, Joe has wins against Hopkins and Kessler as oppose to Pac's wins against Solis, Morales, Barrera, and Marquez. Pac is better.

Barerra and Morales were shot to bits, big deal - but least he actually won I suppose unlike against Marquez where he was schooled. Solis? FFS, if he goes on this list like he's some great achievement for Pac how the hell do you write off the majority of Calzaghe's resume as "bums"? You are about as consistent as Joe Cortez right now.

    Joe also has Lacy.

I think the lack of Lacy and addition of Solis sums up both your one eyed approach to this and lack of knowledge on Joe Calzaghe :yep

I think Joe has done better than most people thought he would and he is in my top 25 fighters for the last 25 years.

Wow how did i miss this gem of a thread. 25 years is a long time, Joe wouldn't even be top 10 material i don't think.

Before I begin allow me to say that I don't follow the british fightgame like I do the american. But as I see it, until Jeff Lacy (06) Calzaghe's claim to fame was defeating who had a loss to Tony booth 3 fights before him.. with a losing record... It cannot be refuted that in the later 2000's Calzaghe has had nothing but B+ to A opposition and legacy building opponents, but to say in the last 25 years... I think that I going a bit far.

Again, I don't know how much weight in the Euro boxing world Mger Mkrtchian has, but I can't put Calzaghe in the top 5 in the last 25years. I'd have to place him above Hearns, Jones (As far as legacy, Jones I think has Jcal beat.), Alexis Arguello, and whitaker. I am just not willing to do that :) I also have floyd as a more significant fighter as Jcal, but those are some others i think beat out Jcal in the last 25
