It's so odd, this thread. I just don't understand why anyone would see it as anything but a great shame that Calzaghe didn't decide to travel earlier like every single one of his contempories (Great fighters from Europe) did down the years. His best years should have been spent on US soil.

This idea that he doesn't have to do because the Americans don't is just...laughable! You can build a monster resume fighting in the US. It's been proven that you can't do that here.

And this other idea, of a globalised world where it doesn't matter where you fight because the money is the same anywhere is just odd. Never heard it before and it's menalist. The fights will be where the money and the best men are.

Does it really matter if you are in America or Europe if you fight good fights? People just seem to throw out the "he hasn't fought in America" tag regardless of where all the better fighters are

People are going to have to accept that Europe dominate most of the heavier divisions.

The hypocrisy being shown by some of the American posters on here is laughable.

If Joe was American he would be a legend in their eyes whether they admit this or not.

I know man, its been bothering me for years. Its like these Calzaghe fans are in some state of universal denial. They make him out to be this great champion the took on all challenges and prevailed, the say Hopkins and Jones ducked him back in the day. But who the hell was Calzaghe back when Hopkins and Jones were ruling there divisions, at least in america he was an unknown until a few years ago.

Its just sad to see this "legend" who had the potential to prove he was so great waste away taking on nobodys just in order to protect his 0.

Why do you always have to make a worthwhile point and then tag on this kind of rubbish?

He hasn't always been fighting nobodies, don't assume we all have the same lack of knowledge.

do people who arent from britain realise that a welsh fighter fighting in england(where the majority of joes career has been fought)is consider the away fighter, for an example watch joes fight against mark delaney for the british title,to say it was hostile doesnt began to cover it

    Eubank, Hopkins, Kessler, Lacy, Reid.

All very good fighters. Certainly not nobodies. Then there is other solid guys that I doubt you've seen.

He must have got awfully lucky these 45 times :yep

Pretty ironic coming from a Tyson fan, with perhaps the thinnest resume of any so called "great" heavyweight, getting his ass handed to him by any great he fought

Yes ive seen him fight. I'll admit he looked good against Kessler, but his notorious slapping style does not impress me. Sure he knows how to keep himself well ahead on the score cards but he does nothing more then throw volumes of meaningless chopping slaps. And look at the SMW division buddy, why do you purpose it was the biggest SMW fight in years?

Yea Eubank who was at the end of his career and all ready losing. Hopkins at age 43 which he barley got the decision, untested and overhyped kessler and lacy, and Robin Reid who is nobody.
