The broken hand saved Joe from getting involved in a tearup. Calzaghe just jabbed him off the backfoot.

If memory serves me correctly, some boxing 'fans' complained about his tactics, seeing them as negative and called him a runner. Most though realised he was without doubt the P4P number one at the time.

I genuinely think you may have mental problems.

Floyd Mayweather lost to Cotto due to a broken hand.

WTF are you talking about, they never fought?!?!? Are you taking the ****ing **** now- you are actually making up injuries and making up results based on a fictitious injury!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    HELP

    P4P is head to head.

By definition all that matters is skill and weight. Greatness doesn't come into it.

A weight lifter can be given a P4P ranking, his greatness doesn't come into it. It is how much he lifts per pound of his own body. Any professor of semantics would back me up here and would agree Joe Calzaghe is the P4P aka H2H number one of all time.

Speaking of certainty, might it not be possible to assign numerical values (between 0 and 1) to the probabilities of certain hypothetical events.

    E.g.

    Tyson v Ruiz

    Tyson by KO (p= 0.99)

    M.Ward v F. Mayweather

    Ward by UD (p=0.00)

    Calzaghe v Toney

    Calzaghe by UD (p=1.00)

    ...and so on.

We could form a huge database with as many possible match-ups as we wished. With suitable software, we could develop assumed resumes , of incredible depth, for every ranked fighter in every division.

Computer technology would make this task less daunting than it would have appeared, say, in the 60's.

This idea still needs a lot of gruntwork, but I think you're on to something.

    :yikes

This is groundbreaking. I dare say this would keep the haters like PACMAN off Joe's back for good.

p4p is NOT h2h, everyone here knows that. They are completely different.

Seriously mate, pack it in now, you're becoming a laughing stock. :-(

How can you have been posting on here for so long and you don't know what pound-for-pound and h2h mean?

I'm quitting this as well, I'm embarrassed this thread has Calzaghe's name in it, and I pray no guys from other forums come on and see that a thread that has went 40+ pages on ESB is now a lecture to a few guys on the pointlessness of a FAKE ****ING RESUME and what pound-for-pound means.

    Good ****ing bye.:yikes

    Calm down, son.

If a boxer wins EVERY SINGLE FIGHT, then it's obvious that they're MORE consistent thanone with a couple of losses. That much is completely Obvious.

All I said was that Joe was MORE consistent than Lennox. (And he is). ONCE

IF you check better, with your eye-glasses on, you will see that it's NOT MY THREAD. The thread belongs to Pugilist64. It's HIM who ranks Joe #1 over the past 25 years.

I only rank him around #5.

Hope that clears things up for you.

    P4P is H2H*(Weight)^-1

Weight and fighting ability, this is clear as you can make a P4P list of weight lifters. The ignorance on display here is almost moderately frustrating, but I will be patient.

I don't think so. CHJ is in peak form.

    We need some graphs.
