Interesting to watch with the sound on...You can hear the power in the body shots. This is early Calzaghe, notice that he chooses to finish the guy with power punches instead of a flurry of slaps.

Annnd here's Joe with a livershot KO... (watch the replay. At first I thought the guy took a dive, but...)

    Haters totally destroyed . Below
Also the count got to 10 against Mkrtchyan, who got up at 7 but stumbled a bit and was waved off.

As alot of you are so ignorant. So just to help, that was Mkertchyan the world rated SMW, who went on to beat undefeated 26-0 European champ Chanet who had beaten Tsypko who only lost by MD to Lacy, arguably Americas best SMW of the decade and looked unlucky to many against Lacy

theres a hell of a lot more bad stoppages than KOs thats for sure

The refs and docs really cared for calzagghes oppoenents and the WBO dominance it would seem

I always was a fan of Calzaghe. I am an American, and I have always been a fan of Froch too. I won big money on him in his fight against Taylor as I picked him by KO no less.

But I can't stand "boys" with mancrushes. You don't show a video of a fighter KO'ing nobodies and guys with **** chins to begin with and then call them a KO specialist.

Joe was an inconsistent puncher because he didn't always turn over his punches or get leverage on them. He gave up power for speed, but he would sometimes mix in a power punch (I personally think by accident). Joe didn't have text book punching technique but his style worked for him.

The best thing about Joe's boxing style was his constant head, upper body movement, in and out footwork, and his chin and stamina.

    NOT HIS PUNCHING POWER.

    :yikes

    What a video.

Horrible slapping punching technique even in his pre-hand-injury days: check

Horrible tomato can journeymen bums even in his world title days: check

Horrible stoppages on account of overwhelming bums with slap-blizzards: check

    Calzaghe in a nutshell.

And that video clip at the end is hilarious!!!!!!:lol::lol:

Most look like the ref steps in too early, but we only really get to see the stoppage. The viet fight for example looked on the vid like a ref finishing the fight too soon.In reality there were no complaints from anyone at the time.
Joe was not a big hitter though, people should just accept that.He was good at what he did but he was no KO specialist.

Yep Americas 2 top SMWs beaten, but if it dosent mean anything consider.-
    With B Mitchell
    2 time WBA SMW champ
He beat #1 Liles (something Ward is praised for doing) by KO
drew with future 2 weight champ Girard
beat Siaca twice who went on to become WBA SMW champ who beat Mundine
beat former MW champ JC Green who beat a prime Joppy before Joppy was beaten by Trinidad or Hopkins.

Mitchell only lost by SD to Ottke and was only ever beaten clearly once as a SMW, by Calzaghe

Also remember Mitchell was happy to fight on the road.
