In 12 months:yep http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7064179.stm Britain's Joe Calzaghe plans to fight for one more year before retiring. The 35-year-old will add the WBC and WBA belts to his WBO super middleweight title if he beats Mikkel Kessler at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday. He told BBC One's Inside Sport: "I realise the end is near. I'm not going to be an Evander Holyfield and fight at 44, getting my head punched in. "I'm giving myself a 12-month span to keep at the top and then I'll let it go. There'll be no comebacks."
I hope Joe has two more fight, maximum three. No less than two though! If he beats Kessler, I'd really like to see Calzaghe-Pavlik @ 168lbs. Joe has stated he would delay moving up to LHW only if Pavlik agreed to a fight at 168lbs. If it's not Pavlik, then I think we'll have Hopkins-Calzaghe in USA at LHW. Providing he gets past B-Hop, I'm not sure who he would fight afterwards? I for one would like to see Calzaghe-Froch, but I'm not hopeful of that taking place. Joe needs to top the bill in USA B4 he retires. It will be a shame if he doesn't! Anyway, if Kessler beats Calzaghe, the above will be academic & it will be Kessler who has the options on who to fight etc.
Only if he beats Kessler. That would be enough to convince me. Just. There will still be many who'd laugh at the idea even if he wins on sat.
