Calzaghe said in a recent newspaper that fighting Jermain Taylor and Kelly Pavlik really do nothing for his legacy at this point....

Hopkins wasn't linear at 175, that particular honour goes to the great Zsolt Erdei, whether we like it or not

I think in this specific instance an exception can be made to the rule. Roy was the lineal champ when he unified the belts, in my eyes.

Joe's a high flyer ... expect to see him entice another ATG into the ring

Smokin' Joe Frazier versus Cokin' Joe Calzaghe

:nono The rule is the rule...picking and choosing who you want to be linear is like living in a monarchy and getting to choose your king or queen. It doesn't work like that.

Why all the emphasis on a linear champion when Joe never beat Sven and had zero interest in unifying and only did so as a matter of course becase Kessler held two belts. If Joe was interested in being a unified champ he wouldnt have given up the IBF (that he won off Lacy) and the WBC and WBA. Either way its semantic as Joes career ledger is littered with flotsam.

In addition the linear champ i believe was Darius not Roy Jones. So in both cases Joe was never linear by beating "the man who beat the man". He only earned his spot through longevity and consensus and the division being so weak.
