Definitely, he still needs more time to get promoted.

Joe could get down to about 166, he was that for the Kessler fight, but walks around at around 190/195

GBP are keen to get into Europe - signing the three biggest names from the UK is a decent start, Kessler next IMO

Not sure about that as Setanta had executives in New York at talks with Calzaghe when the fight was being thrashed out. Hatton gets a slice of every Sky Box Office ppv so depends on what Setanta's flat fee offer will be and whether JC thinks he can top it by going to Sky Box Office. If it really is sept 20th they need to get an official announcement out as these days it's rare to have a fight of this stature announced at less than 2 months notice

Ok. After Hatton and Haye, now Oscar Dollar Hoya tries to get e grip on Calzaghe... I can understand about Ricky and Haye, those are young and can bring a lot of money for Oscar but Joe ?? He just have at best two fights left, of which one he will obviously fight Roy, and then what ? A rematch with Kessler ? ok maybe. Tarver ? Dawson ? I don't believe it.

So what is the point taking a guy who can't bring a large fan base and whose career is at the very end ? I just can't understand.

Hatton might be retired before Calzaghe....

Joe has been known to talk bull**** before and I think he still has an appetite for it, whereas Ricky cannot go on much longer, the way he trains, spars and fights, not to mention his lifestyle isn't conducive to a long career.

Eh? There's not many fighters who can draw 50,000+ at 2am local time

    You beat me to it.

Joe has fans and those people will pay to see him fight in big numbers.

A fight with say Pavlik would fill any venue in the UK most likely.

Yes but we are talking in the US here. I highly doubt we will see as much in his clash with Roy...

Wot a stupid ****in post. How in hell would 50,000 FANS TRAVEL HALF WAY ACROSS THE WORLD FOR A FIGHT.He will probably bring 4,5 thousand across the pond, which is very impressive. How many fighters other than Calzaghe and Hatton could do that??

Think this could be an admission he doesn't know how to promote himself after firing Warren? His fight with Jones is still not signed last I heard. I've seen nothing official.
