He's just outside my top 100, never beat a great, took him 10 years to unify, never moved up to fight in another division like many greats before him did, fought mostly C+ type opposition for the better part of a decade, between the years of 97-06, great talent, not so great of a resume/achievements over his career.

I have him around 70. Very solid reign at 168, sure he did not beat the p4p elites but he dominated there save the Reid fight. You do what you gotta do and he did it at supermiddle.

If he beats Hopkins, which I doubt then I move him up a tad. Hop is still class but he is gettin older of couse.

Kostya's resume is more impressive then Calzaghe's... Joe is really relying bigtime on Kessler to do good things with the rest of his career. Which is far from a certainty IMO. Sheika, Veit, Mitchell, Brewer, Lacy and Bika are just a collection of contenders. Kessler is his only win of note at this stage. Kostya destroyed a whole host of world champions, and some very good undefeated fighters. He took more risks, but his overall resume is better because of it. How in the world do you justify having Calzaghe and KT on Par???

Hopkins would bring him close if he beat him up.

If he did two of Dawson, Woods/Tarver and Jones after that it would be interesting. Thing is i've only gone up to 100 so it's hard to be sure how competitive things get lower than that.

Chad Dawson. Beating a hopkins who had consecutive losses to Taylor, and is now 43 does NOTHING for his resume. Dawson however would be a massive win. Especially after Dawson destroys Johnson. Beating a very talented undefeated world champion with a couple great wins, would really start to move him up the list. Overall though, he would still be reliant on Kess and Dawson moving forward with their careers. If they do a Lacy, because they are really not that established at the time he fought them, it detracts from his victory.

Hopkins ranks in the top 100 for me, but only just. Probably 80 or something. I don't rate his resume either, but at least he has some greats there, even if they were all blown up or ancient.

I imagine Calzaghe will finish up about 150. I don't think he is interested in fighting guys who would really boost his legacy. He is more interested in the amount of money he can make, rightly so, but because of that I doubt he'll ever break the top 100.

Calzaghe's resume is better than Kostya's.

For starters, Calzaghe never has lost to B level opponents, at 35, Kostya loses to Hatton, at 35, Calzaghe decisively defeats a superior fighter to Hatton in Kessler.

Calzaghe has 21 defences, unified the division, their overall competition is pretty much on par also and Calzaghe performed better.

Kostya's best win is KO 2 Zab Judah, a fine win in it's own right, nobody else did that to Judah, but all in all this is a lock for Calzaghe to be placed ahead of Tsyzu.

So you're just rating on the name's alone, not the quality? As you say they were blown up and what not and ineffective at those weight's.

I bet he'll stay around a while at LHW.

Right now? 90-100 seems fair. Beating Hopkins and Dawson? Would improve his rank a good bit if he wins:good

This is a biased post, and you haven't really offered any sort of counter arguement towards the points that i made. Calzaghe had more longevity then KT, but thats about it. Kostya's best opponents: Zab Judah: more accomplished then ANYONE on Joe's resume. Miguel Gonzalez- Very tough fighter, arguably more accomplished then anyone on Joe's resume also. Defeated in very impressive fashion. Sharmbe Mitchell- Very underated in his prime. Multiple time world champion, destroyed by Kostya. Dobelys Hurtado- World Champion, in his prime who came VERY close to being the first man to defeat Pernell. Destroyed again by KT. Kostya overall was far more impressive against his best opponents, who overall are better fighters then the best Joe has faced. Don't even talk to me about Eubank, i might as well put the Chavez win on a pedestal if we are going to start throwing in old legends to the mix. Calzaghe wasted his talent, deal with it. having a tonne of defences against bums means nothing. Ottke had a similar amount of defences also, do you have him as top 100????
