im sorry but roy didnt want it, dont compare roy jones jr to the likes of roberto duran who fought evrey avalible challenge, dariuz Michalczewski asked out roy jones, chris eubank , nigel benn , steve collins, where these guys on his record? dont compare calzaghes drive and dertermination to roy jones's ducking

I believe there are articles on attempts to fight Benn and Collins...One of the main issues was Don King...Not sure of the specifics but the fight fell through like countless other fights in boxing due to what else politics ..Can't blame 1 side if you’re not going to blame the other...As far as Darius Michalczewski, who's only claim to fame is that he was the lineal champ, How was it that Roy ducked him when he like Jones refused to make the fight on nuetral ground yet Jones ducked him ??Hysterical !

Calzaghe's drive of determination more like another boxing politician..Jones was the one that they were chasing him and everybody else I can't imagine for who he fought he was the one always at fault for not making these fights...

we are completly seeing to sides to the story of roy jones, but the fact that calzaghe been chased by jones is laughable, I understand Jones ducking him, as Calzaghe is not a well known boxer untill lacy fight n even then it was still showtime the event was aired on, his appeal to US fight fans was slim, so i understand why he didnt want to fight, why fight a unknown undefeated fighter when you can make money fighting other US known boxers which are beatable.

Dariuz Michalczewski, whos claim to fame was been the fighter that roy jones didnt want to face stated he would fight roy in USA, again why face a unkown unbeaten euro fighter when you can create a legacy fighting bums, Steve Collins came to a roy jones press confrence and called him out there,
chris eubank called him out also

face it Roys career is filled with ducking and dodging,

NIce try to beef Joe up abit, but the truth is Jones was talking way after 2000. He spoke of the Hanshaw fight 2007 and the tito fight 2008. So unless he created a time machine it had nothing to do with 2000.

Im just shocked you got this far before someone caught that

Bollocks. Calzaghe demanded crazy amounts of money when joe was unkown, knowing he'd get turned down. it would be like Kevin Mitchell offering Marquez a fight with a 60/40 split in Mitchells favour.

Yeah...Roy Jones fought a prime James Toney and a prime Bernard Hopkins and he ducked Dariuz Michalczewski because he was afraid...???

Do you ever actually say this stuff aloud and hear the nonsense that you are spewing before you go ahead and post it in full view of thousands of members? :nut

I know its customary for people of low intelligence to respond with insults to other people's intelligence (an insecurity thing), but it really isn't necessary.

As for Hopkins, he was 28-years-old (prime) and he was riding a 22 fight win streak when he lost to Roy Jones. Look it up. Also, I suggest you continue reading and not stop halfway through. That's probably why you're poorly educated. :D

Should of would of could of, tell how serious do you really think he was about coming to the US??

He is no diffrent than a Ricky Hatton ..He knew that he had to come here to fight the best yet Jones was going tongo over there and get robber ala Rocky Graciano ??Yeah I could see how Jones would jump at that ..Jones unified the division so why would he have to chase him he was also the name if DM really had the intent to come to the US he would of taken the plight of Ricky Hatton ,ArthurAbraham, and Joe Calzaghe .

I believe him coming to America as much as I believe Don King is an honest man...I know that there attempts for the EUBANK fight I know Roy wanted that fight but Not sure if he was under King and the fight would had Jones under contract with King after that or the Collins fight ..

I know the names were out there but it was due to some ridiculous demands on both sides that these fights never materialized .

And you can say what you want about who he fought but I sir don’t listen to the likes of Larry Merchant nor Rico Spardafora ..Look as his resume and tell me if there any hall of famers and former champions and really compare it to anyone worth mentioning Including Joe Calzaghe and tell me again how his career is full of ducking and dodging!!

Well we know the contract was done and dusted for the Hopkins fight in the US in 2002, so that seems fairly serious...

Bernard Hopkins was 28 years old and he had had 24 fights when he met Jones. He was riding a 22 fight win streak. I'd hardly call that green. Just because he is known for being a great older fighter does not mean that he wasn't just as great or better when he was in his physical prime at 28. It's patently ridiculous to call a fighter who had been a pro for 6 years and who had had 24 fights green. Just admit that you were wrong and bit on your way. I really haven't a clue why you guy refuse to admit when you are wrong. I do it all the time. People make mistakes.
