Says "Dawson is an unproven fighter who must build his name. Currently, Dawson is not an option."

    Comments?

    Funny, HBO liked the idea.

    typical calzaghe belittling opponents.

he has always done it and even though i am a fan , it is off his boxing i am a fan and not the contradictions that come out of his mouth.

chad dawson is clearly his biggest threat along with johnson.

what calzaghe should have said is the truth.

chad dawson does not bring me a lot of money for the risk he is worth and i can earn a lot more fighting safer opponents.

This is such nonsense. You've probally just made this quote up. Everything I've read and seen is that Joe is certianly considering Dawson.

Absolutely. Just another ****** / troll inventing quotes (you can usually tell when there's no link).

Just let this sad thread die.

The thing is... if he doesn't fight Hopkins who's left? A dangerous Johnson who is a big risk with little reward, or Dawson who is dangerous but would at least give a big bump to his legacy? There's just not that many big names left at that weight class for him. Maybe Jermain Taylor if he looks good against Lacy, but that's a long time to sit on the shelf for an older fighter.

Dawson is proven. Calzaghe talking **** again. Calzaghe KNOWS he'll sell out a stadium in Wales regardless of opponent. All he has to do is give Dawson the opportunity to fight him. Although Dawson will most likely have to take a paycut.

I think Joe is sitting and waiting for offers... Calzaghe is the man right now, its up to HBO and Dawsons promoters, to make an offer for him to stick around...

The only name that impresses me on Dawson's record is Adamek. He flat out lost to Glen Johnson, and Tarver blows hot & cold, and when he blows cold, boy does he blow.

If Calzaghe took the fight he'd decision Dawson in his sleep.

    :hi:

No he didn't "flat out" lose to Johnson. He won a close hard fought fight. Just because Johnson caught him with a big punch that dazed him in the 10th doesn't mean he was robbed. He made Tarver look as bad as Tarver made Woods a few months beforehand.

Who else should Dawson fight to get a fight with Calzaghe. If you're gonna criticise those fights, then you'll obviously do the same should he beat Erdei, Garay/Braehmer, Woods etc.

Calzaghe v Dawson is the best fight to make at 175. Hands down

Joe prefers his fighters the way he prefers his wine...old, aged, and "shot" right through the barrel. Of course, Joe doesn't discriminate, he did try cheap danish wine. That danish wine, you know the one that taste, so good with "ducking."

    100% correct.

Dawson needs to fight and beat a Hopkins or Kessler before earning the right to face Calzaghe.

I think Calzaghe should bow out now, but if he does fight on i would like to see him fight Dawson and i think he beats Chad.

As Lennox Lewis said people will always say Joe was ducking somebody (contender) if he retires today or in a years time as there is always the next big things on the horizon.

Dawson and Kessler are the future no doubt but i think at tis moment in time Dawson is a little too green, as was Pavlik for Hopkins.
