JC won every second of every round against a prime, undefeated, no 2 super middleweight champion in Lacy. Abraham is a former middleweight, already defeated, and nowhere near the no 2 spot in the division. He also gave Froch a couple of minor scary moments in the last round. However, by the time their careers are both over, I'm sure Abraham will clearly be seen as the better fighter. But, who knows what Lacy would have done had he not been ruined by Calzaghe?

    Froch dominated Abraham
    Calzaghe Lacyed Lacy

You can't beat a Lacying. You just can't.

Abraham was a solid champion, albeit at 160 lbs.

Lacy was nothing more than a limited paper belt holder who dropped 5 rounds to journeyman Omar Sheika in his "prime".

People forget how good Lacy looked prior to the fight with Calzaghe. Everyone thought he was the next great thing. Lacy was undefeated and a heavy favorite going into that fight. NOBODY expected Calzaghe to dominate him the way he did.

In the Froch/Abraham fight, not only was Abraham not that heavy of a favorite, many people (including myself) spelled out how Froch could win: by using his length (and jab), outboxing him and not getting suckered into trading with Abraham. Now the last pard is where I predicted the fight wrong. I thought Froch has too much of a "fighter's spirit" and would wind up trying to trade with Abraham. That's why I was so comfident AA would KO Froch. Froch impressed me by staying so disciplined and refusing to do what he loves to do most and trade. As impressive as it was though, it had been done to Abraham for most of his last fight. Dirrell had layed the blueprint on how to beat AA, all Froch had to do was follow it.

For those reasons, Calzaghe's win over Lacy was a better, and more impressive win.

People thought Calzaghe was old and about to get retired by the young upstart.

Froch and Abraham are pretty much closer in the age gap.

There were a lot of things going against Calzaghe. And he produced a fight that is a masterpiece where he won every minute of every round. Froch couldn't do that against an already beaten champion from 160 lbs. Calzaghe did it with an undefeated champion from 168.

I also forgot to add that it was a unification (last night was a vacant-fest), and a step to an historic 'undisputed' for the division.

You could argue AA is better than the Lacy Calzaghe beat but for performance it's Calzaghe hands down.
