I knew he was undefeated for a while as an amateur and I don't know how many amateur fights he had in that time but this was a little surprise, jeez the man knows how to win. I think Calzaghe will do it this weekend but I'm getting more nervous the closer we get and I'm not the only one, as a brit I'm hoping he does it but all credit to Jones if he pulls this off, I would really admire that victory. Here's the interesting article I just read anyway from Sky Sports, Glen McCorey's blog and he is getting majorley concerned about Joe! http://www.skysports.com/blogs/blog_story/0,19793,13275_4457862,00.html
Joe Calzaghe and I have a lot in common. I too have NEVER tasted defeat in a professional boxing ring.
that amature fight was in the final of the euro aba and cost him his place in the olympics the only loss before that was when the person who he was fightings dad was the ref
This would require you to actually step into the ring in a fight. atsch Calzaghe clearly knows what it means to be a winner and is strong mentally.
Rightcross, been seeing your posts all night and I have to say that they are unbiased, intelligent and refreshing. I hope you enjoy the fight on Saturday night.
Yeah, it was 18. From the Daily Telegraph.co.uk: Michael Smyth 1990: This was Calzaghe's last defeat, when he boxed at the 1990 Welsh ABA final. Welsh power-plant worker Smyth was fearless and had too much power on the day. Calzaghe obviously despised the experience and made a vow to never be beaten again. This content is protected
they did a very nice piece about it on 24/7...i forgot the age though... but from the concensus im guessing its 18...:think
