Amsterdam is right about Andrade - he's a monster. To do well against him, you need to be able to box very well, but you need the right style too. Kessler's style was perfect against Andrade. Calzaghe's style is not. Calzaghe would tag him with jabs all night, would cut in and out and swarm him, would move circles around him, but would it be enough? By the middle rounds, Calzaghe would have broken his hands trying to keep Andrade off him. And Andrade would keep coming and coming relentlessly forward. Unlike his other opponents, Andrade wouldn't bother defending his head when Calzaghe comes inside, because Calzaghe couldn't hurt him enough. Instead, he would use hard upercuts and work the body, grinding Calzaghe down, round after round. Calzaghe would score and score against him, but wouldn't hurt him; he'd keep coming forward time after time. Against Kessler, he couldn't get through the jab, but Kessler is stronger. Calzaghe's jab is even better, but not as strong. Andrade would plough through it... I wouldn't be surprised if Andrade ends up stopping Calzaghe in the championship rounds... Of course, prime Calzaghe would be a big favourite against Andrade...but the Calzaghe who beat Kessler...well...it's a 50/50 fight; Andrade might jut have the style, chin, heart and will to win to beat Calzaghe at this stage... What are your thoughts?
Of course...most good boxers do that to him. Doesn't stop him coming forward, though, does it? Calzaghe would win every round impressively until Andrade grinds him down and finishes him with bodyshots...it's a style's thing. Just ask Amsterdam.
I'm not questioning Andrades heart or mental toughness; it is top notch. JC doesn't ko him, but I would bet the house that he takes this fight. Andrade is not on JCs level. Does Amsterdam really pick Andrade over JC?? That would shock me
Calzaghe would humiliate Andrade rough for 10 rounds but succcumb to the relentless pressure and bodyshots in the end. It's inevitable...
don't forget that JC has an iron chin and incredible mental toughness too. Andrade isn't a notch above him in either department imo
A bit like this, then... [yt]J1gAHil89Z4[/yt] Mate, you are one to talk, Mundine wouldn't make it past the 6th round with Andrade and you know it!:deal Mundine has even less of a style for Andrade...
Andrade already lost by unanimous decission to the guy who Calzaghe outboxed. So it's normal and logical for people to pick Calzaghe over Andrade. :yep
It's not about chins...everone can be hurt to the body, even if you have a great chin. It's not about mental toughness either...Calzaghe would absolutely humiliate Andrade for 10 rounds, before succumbing to the pressure and bodyshots...it's just styles...no one is perfect...
But this is not how boxing works...:nono Calzaghe is one of the best boxers of his generation. He is much better than Andrade p4p. But Andrade just has the style to beat Calzaghe, but not the style to beat Kessler...it's a style thing...
