:rasta No one did do that to Jones in 2008 or ever in his career. So to just say many guys could do that to Jones in 2008 does not mean that they really could. Calzaghe outclassed Jones the way no one ever did, and it deserves respect I think.

    yeah let's hope it happens.

unfortunately dawson is not much of a name.

which may put off calzaghe.

Calzaghe has nothing more to prove. Dawson looks good but not great. The Johnson fight was a close decision and he looked in trouble at times. Calzaghe doesnt need this fight. He doesnt need any fight, there is no opponent that excites me for Joe.

After Calzaghe beat him he isn't. But before that he was. Jones did beat Trinidad who might have been a little shopworn, but he was still good. If Calzaghe would fight Dawson I think he would outbox him and win a close UD. Too much experience and too good. Dawson is not in that caliber yet.

Trinidad was shot and fighting at a weight much heavier than he had ever fought before.

I'm taking nothing away from Calzaghe, he's my P4P #2 but the Jones victory was unsurprising. I was surprised how clear cut it was, but not by the result. Jones was well past it - and it showed!

Thats where we differ then. IMHO Trinidad was a damn sight more than a "little shopworn". For what its worth I'd take Calzaghe to beat Dawson, he looks good in bursts but can't maintain his work at a decent level over the course of a 3 minute round.

I would much prefer seeing a rematch between Hopkins and Calzaghe and a rematch between Cunningham and Adamek.

No way is Calzaghe scared of Dawson. Calzaghe and Hopkins would both beat Dawson, IMO.

This would make more sense. I'm not sure I actually want to see it though. Couldnt sit through another Hopkins fight and actually keep my eys open!

Outclassed more than Tarver's destruction of jones? Or Johnson's almost terrifying knockout of jones

The jones fight counts as nothing more than a money maker... Calzaghe should not end his career on that note

The thing is if Calzaghe goes out and beats Dawson, everyone will say he was over rated, we just haave to look at what happen after the Pavlik v B Hop and Calzaghe v Lacy fights to see this. In my opinion Calzaghe v Pavlik was going to be done if Pavlik was able to stay undefeated, however Pavlik when and fought B Hop at 170, a fight that was small reward, big loss for him, and he lost big, while on the flip side if he had won, everyone would have just said that he beat an old man. Pavlik's handlers should have put him in with either Abraham, Kessler or Wright. Them fights would have made sense, even though I think Kessler would have beat him as well, it would not have been in the fashion B Hop did it.

Anyways going back to Calzaghe and his options now, on his list are Johnson (old and beaten too many times), Dawson (Green), B Hop (A poor first fight, did not get many people excited to begin with, and Joe got no credit for the win to begin with) Froch (Big mouthed B Level fighter) Taylor (Lost twice to Pavlik, and has one good win against a Lacy that has already been destroyed). So for me Calzaghe does not have any real legacy options left, all he has is money making opertunities.

who cares about those sorts of boxing fan? who gives a ****?

stop being so bothered by them. they are not worth worrying about. their opinions are worthless and they only come here to spread negative vibes.

dawson would be a fantastic scalp for joe to end his career on and would get huge credit for just taking the bout, never mind winning it.

I think the point being made though is that there will always be someone. First it was Pavlik, now it seems to be Dawson. If he beats Dawson it will be Froch. If he beats Froch it will be someone else.

Joe has nothing left to prove.

dawson is all that is left, after him there is nothing anynody can throw at him with any reason.

froch is a nobody, he is not on joe's radar and rightfully so.
