Hopkins bottled the fight against Joe first time round with his pathetic coawards tactics and constant moaning. The does not deserve a rematch and would lose again if it were to happen.

True. Let's face it, he'd only say he won again anyway. The author of this thread probably watched film footage of Ali-Jimmy Young and immediately thought "why wasn't there ever a rematch?" :hey

I'd prefer a fight with Carl Froch actually for numerous reasons, for me fights with Froch and especially Dawson make the most sense, but from a British perspective a fight with Froch could be hugely lucrative and with it making financial sense, be a great farewell fight in Cardiff.

Froch should have the WBC SMW Title by then which makes him a bit more of a credible opponent than he otherwise might have been...

    what the **** on about

Hopkins / Calzaghe was a very close fight

yes Hopkins was a cheating ****

but he is still a very good fighter

my intial impression on the final bell is Hopkins had just nicked it

Calzaghe got the decsion - thats the way it went

However close competitive fights are worthy of rematches

A rematch is pointless, especially in Wales.

The judges will favour Calzaghe's relentless style, the referee will punish Hopkins for holding/headbutts and Calzaghe would win by a wide margin.

I've never understood the demand for a rematch, it seems to have all happened since Hopkins beat Pavlik quite easily. It just seems like ignorant thinking imo.

Lets say they rematch, and Calzaghe beats him again (I had Joe winning by 4 in their last fight too), Hopkins comes back afterwards and beats Dawson, then what? Do they go at it again?!

I do see this as the most likely fight that Joe will take next. But I wont really be up for it, although of course I'll watch it.

Hopkins couldn't beat Calzaghe on points in Vegas, theres no way he's going to beat him on points in Cardiff.

I've said it before and i'll say it again... Hopkins blew any chance of a rematch by a) spoiling and cheating during the fight instead of trying to fight and b) being a graceless ******* after he lost.

Zero chance of a Hopkins rematch in my opinion.

I thought Jimmy Young nicked it, the point was, the fight was so dull, no one called for a rematch. Get it? The consensus thought Calazghe won and there was no great controversy about it, in reality. :good

well..for me hopkins v calzaghe was so close that i'd have no problem with a rematch...

but..heres the thing...a lot of boxing fans and media seem to think they can demand who joe fights next...like they deserve to be allowed to pick his opponent...the fans opinion will not be considered for one split second..not a split second...the only consideration will be the fight which generates the most money in cardiff...

Calzaghe has nothing left to prove he should IMO retire undefeated.

    Hopkins doesn't deserve the rematch.

Joe won 9 rounds to 3 and all Hopkins did was fight like a ***** by fouling and faking low blows, but It's only ok to say that when Ruiz does It!

Plus do you not remember how Joe fake boned him from behind to this so called legend.

    Pavlik's not hard to beat.
