We know that he has the skill to out-class Marciano, and is certainly of adequate size.

But could he take the few power punches that he would possibly receive?

    Discuss.

    There is no question.

Many will come to discuss this interesting topic.

Marciano would have a chance a believe.

I will only say that Calzaghes chin is probably good for jumping a division or two. He sparrs regularly with Enzo Macrinelli so he knows exactly how well his chin would hold up.

If he beats David Haye then I might start to question how he would fare against Marciano.

Marciano was a very very small heavyweight and fully hydrated weighed 190lbs. But he did hit very very hard.

Nowadays he would probably boil down to the lightheavy limit or possably just fight at cruiser. Joe has an exellent chin.. Personally at 175lbs or a catch weight of 180lbs. I wouldnt rule out a Calzaghe win he is very very fast. But marciano's power is the equlizer.

Marciano TKO14 or Calzaghe UD 12

How would you rate Marciano's chances of landing a potential knockout punch?

Marciano is alot alot smaller than David Haye. I mean in one heavyweight bout haye weighed 217lbs. Rocky weighed between 180-195lbs. Saying that i think that the reason that joe would have a chance against a bigger if not alot bigger man would be his speed. I think Joe could outbox and outspeed Rocky over 12, using his reach also. Perhaps not at heavy at 175lbs or a catch weight of somesort.

If he was to fight David Haye he wouldnt be much faster but his reach disadvantage would be Huge!! And Joe couldnt overcome that.

I am inclined to agree here. Over 15 rounds it would make sense for Marciano to win by stoppage.

I am never comfortable predicting a late stoppage in fights, but here it is sensible.

No disrespect to the great Rocky Marciano but I do not eliminate the possibilities that Calzaghe treats him just like Lacy. Rocky will really have a lot of trouble setting up a good punch against Calzaghe who has lightning quick footwork.

I quite liked Calzaghe untill recently.

    Lets be realistic here folks.

Rocky Marciano is a top 10 all time heavyweight even if he did weight in at 190 lbs. He probably had a higher cumulative punching power over 15 rounds than any heavyweight in history. If you are smaller than him you are toast.

Calzaghe is a briliant fighter but he has not even made the transition to light heavyweight yet. If you ranked him among the great light heavyweights of history he would not yet crack the top 20.

Then you dont even know who or what Rocky Marciano was.

Do you really think that he was just a bigger version of Jeff Lacey?

I guarantee you that Marciano would smoke David Haye or any other cruiserweight today.

He obviously is not i dont think just a bigger version of lacy.
I think that from what i have seen he is much more likley to be outboxed than to be outpunched, and as i said. He probably could boil down to 175lbs if he wanted to just by more running and dehydrating himself.

I wouldn't think that Calzaghe could beat a 195lb Marciano but if it was at a catch weight of even 180lbs, which he could make with ease i would pick Calzaghe over 12 and Rocky over 15 late.

Why? He may smoke Haye at cruiser because of the chin problems he has becuse of the weight draining at heavy he theoretically should have a better chin. So may outbox rocky. I could see him beating: Bell; destroying enzo (early); and out slugging Mormeck. But no smoking atal bar maccarinelli who is ****.
