It's a bit different, Calzaghe gets hit more than a prime Jones, always engages when he has an opening and is often squared up at spots.

This alone excludes him from beating HW's.

Though, Marciano not exactly the type of HW that I'm thinking of being only 190 or so and very slow.

Box and move? Joe is actually taller with a much bigger wingspan. In saying that at heavy he would most probably loose. I cannot comment on Dempsey, i havn't seen that much of him. But again at heavy joe would get worked over most probably. But Joe is very very talented and if they came in - i know ive been saying- at a catch weight. It would be a good fight.

Prior to late 1970's, heavyweights trained to be as light as possible. Marciano only was alowed one good sized meal a day---one meal, nothing else, in training. When him and Ezzard Charles had to wait 3 days to fight due to postponement, Marciano and him both gained about 10 pounds from weigh in without trying. Marciano was 196 fight night, and still looked slim. He also had no trouble putting out usual work rate.

Why drian your body when you don't have to make weight? This is strange.

Good info though. If Marciano was 196 on fight night, then he's going to have a good 13-15 pounds on Calzaghe even if Joe is 180ish.

It was reported all over the place during and after fight, and has been mentioned occasionally over the years. If you mean the one meal a day thing that is also well known. Look up an old article.

Marciano is not like Lacy, neither in the giving nor receiving.

Joe could not take Marciano's shots, even on the arms and Rocky could give Joe almost any number of free shots (a la Mayorga) and be unaffected.

Joe is much more skillful than Rocky ever was, but the other intangibles result in this matchup ending prematurely.

    Nobody survived Marciano.

An Ali - Marciano hypothetical matchup usually leads to controversy. (personally I pick Ali to win most of the time).

I'm a big fan of Joe, but he's not in the same league as Ali, neither in relative nor absolute terms.

Senya thinks prime Roy beats prime Ali. CHJ thinks Calzaghe beats Rocky.

    What's next?

this is getting ridiculous. I am a fan of some current fighters including Joe but saying Joe beats Rocky is as stupid as saying Roy Jones beats Ali.

I ment the puting on 10lbs. I cannot fined that anywhere... mite just be me being a bit slow. If uve got a link it would be appreciated. If he did it would be being completly stupid imo.

The one meal a day thing doesnt surprise me atal. Athletes do stuff like that all the time.

It is not as stupid because. Jones and Ali have a very similar style but ali is bigger and perhaps faster at hw which would cause roy no end of problems.

Joe Calzaghe vs Rocky Marciano at hw would be bloody as Joe would be too lightweight and would get broken down. But if you had any sort of weightlimit around 180 ish then i think it would be competitive. 180lbs is not alot.

Not for a 15 rounder but the 12 round limit would cut him a bit of slack to bulk up.

    Cockroaches would survive.

    Oliver McCall would survive.

    Joe Calzaghe would survive.

Rocky Marciano would still be undefeated, untied and on the phone saying-

    "Mama. I win again".
