I say "Pussies" sarcastically as I am a big Calzaghe fan and have only seen Ottke when he fought Reid. But obviously many believe they are "HomeBoy Alphabet Pussies".

Looking at their career stats they have a lot in common in terms of number of fights, number of title defences and common opponents.

The general opinion seems to be that Calzaghe would have defeated Ottke with ease. But is this necessarily true.

If they had met at a neutral venue when they were both in the middle of their reigns what would have happened?

Calzaghe would have beaten him with ease. Ottke has no power, and while somewhat skilled, would be overwhelmed by Calzaghe.

**** off. That is Mundine's career high embarrasing point - getting KOed by Sven Ottke.

He hits like a newborn kitten. Dont deny it.

(if in germany) Ottke wins by Disqualification just after Calzaghe Knocks him out.

    Props :thumbsup

I've never seen a complete Ottke fight but his record 34-0 (6 KOs) with victories over the likes of Charles Brewer, Thomas Tate, Glen Johnson, Mundine, Bryon Mitchell, David Starie, Robin Reid etc. suggests that he could box a bit. Even if most (or all) of these were gift hometown decisions, Ottke clearly knew his way around a boxing ring and knew how to survive.

Even so, I doubt he'd have lasted the distance against Calzaghe's pressure and workrate. I see nothing but an easy victory for Calzaghe although maybe Ottke would have his moments and cause Calzaghe a few problems with his elusiveness.

I regard Ottke's reign as essentially meaningless. But he got what he wanted out of it - I'm sure he retired rich and happy

Even then - I doubt he'd beat Calzaghe before getting stopped himself. Depends what they were loaded with I suppose.

Ottke was probably more than skillful enough to catch Calzaghe, but he'd have been overwhelmed by Calzaghe's pressure and workrate (like most of Calzaghe's opponents).

When you have two guys in the same division racking up 20 defenses, mostly at the same time, that takes away a lot of it's meaning in my book.

Calzaghe would win every round. Ottke was champ for so long as he got home town decisions agaisnt bums.
