and he purposely chose non-punchers as opponents knowing he'd get the decision if the fight went the distance.

Ottke had NO power. Calzaghe could unleash rapid combos on him without fear. I don't think this one would even be close.

calzaghe win by tko as he would not be in the slightest cautious about ottke. i think it would be like a calzaghe v manfredo type of affair

I dont think Ottke got that many gifts to be honest, I think its overblown because he is so tedious to watch.

Joe just rapes him though, I dont think he loses a minute of this fight but Ottke was a crafty bugger with fairly decent foot speed, I think he could run his way out of trouble for 12 rounds.
Ill say Joe stops him late though.

I think Joe was semi-serious about this fight but Ottke never ever wanted a part of him.

From a business side of things why should he, people still rocked up to see him jab, move and hold his way through fight after fight against usually pretty average opposition. He was earning millions and seemed pretty popular, I think the casual fan would care little if he ever fough Joe or not.

And offered over $1 million (possibly even pounds) for ottke to come to Wales but Im sure I read around the time he didnt really think Ottke wanted the fight so he was looking at others.

Ottke never wanted the fight and even if he did, he had nothing for Joe.

I think Kessler would have ottke's number let alone Joe.

I think Ottke is the 3rd best SMW of the last 6 or 7 years.

Calzaghe KO Ottke 3,6,7,9 and 10.

But Ottke wins a split decision....

If the fight was in Germany - Ottke just might pull it off - his uniq koala-style could mayby win him the fight in Germany. Anywhere else an easy Calzaghe victory.

As for whoes fault it is they didn't fight ... nobody knows ... it isn't until recent years that Warren has actually put his money where his mouth is - and the 1mill offer was a joke at best - Ottke made that fighting Markussen - why the h*ll would he risk Calzaghe for the same amount?

Much bad can be said about Ottke and it should, but he fought nearly all the contenders of the time - he even fought several mandatoy defenses - something that can't be said about Calzaghe - sadly.
