this match up is to hard to call calzaghe's work rate would definatly give jones something to think about but i cant think of an opponent that calzaghe has fought who was as fast as jones was and had the reflexes of jones

This is not a hard fight to call. Roy Jones would mop the floor with Calzaghe.

    I agree.

Not that Jones is that far ahead in terms of class. Just that Jones is faster and Joe relys upon his speed pretty heavily. So I see it as a clear points victory with Joe coming of the deck more than once.

In an imagined 15 round fight I could even imagine his corner pulling him, or the referee stepping in.

Jones in his prime owns Calzaghe.

I mean legit ownage...Calzaghe has to carry Roys bags to the hotel-type ownage.

    What are you talking about?

Calzaghe is a damn good fighter, great chin, workrate fast hands, very fast feet and very good reflex's.

Roy was just better. When a fighter takes away your greatest wepon- speed in Calzaghe's case you are in bother.

    Straight up KO?

No way. Calzaghe can be hit. But he has one of the best chins in boxing at the moment and is fearless in the counter attack.

Jones is not fearless in withstanding a counter-attack. Why do you need to be when you are that quick, that good?

Joe makes it to the end of any 12 round fight, I mean 10 times out of 10.

I dont think Calzaghe would win.

But he would win rounds, his workrate and jab would allow him to win some. 3 is just a random pick tbh.

Calzaghe would inevitably be beaten but it would be close for a bit at the start.

Calzaghe would have been the best fighter that Roy ever fought, due to styles. Roy has a massive stylistic advantage over Toney btw.

I don't think Calzaghe gets KO'd. He has a tremendous chin and doesn't ever seem truly panicked when he gets hit.

Jones would just outclass him....Roy Jones in his prime is on a whole 'nother universe than Calzaghe. It would be one of those 9-3/10-2 scorecard fights where Roy would dominate the middle rounds then spent the latter portion of the fight dancing and posing for the crowd.

Reflexes, hand speed, foot speed are too much for Joe prime for prime.

A much more competitive fight would be Toney/Calzaghe although that's another thread for another time.
