:deal basically, get hit in the face hard with punches you didnt see coming will stop that ass from coming 4ward. And RJ punches to the body well, that will also slow calzaghe down and sap some energy, so that workrate will go down as well. So people sayin RJ has no chance is utter ridiculous
if rjj sits on the ropes for most of the fight again, then calzaghe can score an a UD. it would be tremendous if rjj pulled off a win though, that would be the perfect win to go out on.
RJJ will always have a chance. A small one but a chance none the less.A guy of his caliber will always have the benefit of the doubt when it comes to these sorts of fights. What an upset it'd be if he managed to beat Calzaghe. That said Joe wins this one by a wide decision...possibly a stoppage.
Jones still at this stage has very solid hand speed .And after watching the Hopkins fight why should Jones worry he's not a pup like Pavlik or a Lacy .It will be a very compeive fight .
This fight is a load of ****. Its like getting to lay the finest girl in Highschool 10 yrs later when she is a fat divorcee with three kids and on Welfare.
Arriba... Who was the last person Joe C stopped to give you any indication that Roy would be the next person he'd stop?
it all depends on Jones. If he has anything left at all he will win. Joe Calzaghe is not Glen Johnson. Although he does march forward aggressively like Glen Johnson he doesn't hit hard enough to win Jones respect. Johnson is all about landing lots of HARD shots, Calzaghe is about landing lots of SOFT shots. Just like Felix Trinidad, Jones wil have no respect for Calzaghe's power and will land at will whenever he wants. He wont go to the ropes and fight negative because Calzaghe cant ruin Jones' confidence like Tarver and Johnson did. Bernard Hopkins hit Calzaghe with the straight right-hand all night long. Calzaghe blindly walked into those counter shots all ****ing night. If Hopkins had been a little bit younger and able to follow up, instead of landing one shot them clinch like he did, he would've won by KO. Jones is more than capable of following it up. He's much faster than Hopkins and doesn't throw 1 shot at a time. Whereas Hopkins would nail Joe with a counter then tie him up, in the same timeframe Jones will nail Calzaghe with a counter, twat him with a 3-shot combo them stick his tongue out and wiggle his arse about to make Calzaghe angry and humiliated. Calzaghe isn't even in the same stratosphere as Jones in terms of talent, never was, never has been, and the only chance he has is if Jones' advanced age make him truly handicapped. If its a true sporting competition where the boxer with the best skills wins, then Joe doesn't stand a chance. Jones KO in about 6.
That all sounds good, until you look more closely at Roy's recent performances. He may not throw one punch at a time like Hopkins, but he does fight in 10-second intervals, followed by a long break. That's why he couldn't get rid of Trinidad or the other two guys he's fought since Tarver III. I just don't see where the confidence in a Jones KO comes from, given that he has no stoppage victories since 2002. He also isn't as tricky as Hopkins. Bernard to this day is a dangerous counterpuncher, whereas Jones has had to bring his guard up and stand flat-footed, mostly waiting for his opponent to finish punching before he fires in return. He's not only far off in terms of ability from where he once was, his entire style has changed. I would love nothing more than to be wrong about this, but I just can't see it.
