I reckon you are an idiot? I know what you are trying to do - RJJ moving to HW was the worst he could have done. Hope this clears it out

an idiot ? bit harsh innit ?
i want to know how the people who hail jones's win over john ruiz as one of the greatest, most symbolic wins of all fecking time reckon calzaghe would do ok against him as well.

RJJ just wanted to do something special and he went up and met the weakest HW champ.

JC has only fought twice at LHW, why would he move up two weight classes more? And what would it matter? RJJ and JC are different fighters - it could work for RJJ, but probably not for JC due to his offensive arsenal, but his reflexes aren't as great as RJJs. It would be suicide, even if Ruiz is ****.

Joe does not have the power to keep heavyweights off of him. Jones only beat Ruiz as his power had Ruiz wary of coming in. Calzaghe does not have that power. He would not be able to back heavyweights up and flurry, they would walk through his punches. Calzaghe could not succeed at heavyweight, no way.

Even at LH Joe has lost an awful lot of his handspeed, his greatest weapon at SM. When Jones stepped up to heavy he still had phenominal power but we know Joe doesn't gain anything like that by going up in weight as he can't let his hands go or they'll break again. His best shot against Ruiz (who I don't rate) would be to out-work him but Ruiz is a spoiler and his style is anaethema to Calzaghe - you just need to watch him v Hopkins or Bika to see that.

Roy hit harder than Joe and probably had slightly better hand speed at the time. Hard to say really but i dont think Joe could have earned Ruiz respect Joe's also been down twice at Light Heavy and while Ruiz isnt a massive puncher his still hits harder than Joe so i dont think Calzaghe could do what RJJ did

how many times would ruiz manage to catch calzaghe though ?

look i know its a bit of a silly question anyway , just a thought really.

a lot. joe would lose all his physical gifts weighing in at 200+. his footwork, handspeed and reflexes would all vanish.

joe would get KTFO in the first.

he isn't and never will be RJJ.

i'm talking about john ruiz , not RJJ . he'd knock him out in the first ? dunno about that .

joe is very hittable and hurtable at 175/168.

he's going to be cannon fodder at HW.

all his fighting spirit and heart will count for jack**** once a heavyweight lands on his chin.

ok plug in i get the message. i was simply trying to imply that jones win over ruiz is not the greatest win of all time. now i know that ruiz has explosive knock out power and could catch calzaghe at will i'll go to the library and immerse myself in boxing history .

Joe outworks a lot of opponents, and he would perhaps lose being able to do that by lugging a load of extra weight around.
