It is looking increasingly likely that Joe will fight on. How would he fare in these contests.

    1 - Dawson

    2 - Hopkins II

    3 - Jonhson

4 - Froch (if he gets past Pascal of course)

    5 - Kessler II

Joe's gone the distance in six of his last seven fights, and I am seeing UD wins across the board; close ones against Dawson, Hopkins and Johnson; a mid-range UD over Kessler (something like 116-112), and a wide UD against Froch (118-110 territory).

Anyone feel there could be different outcomes?

I think he'd beat Dawson by a good 3 points

    Wide over Johnson.

He'd prob beat all of them on points. I'd prefer Dawson Hopkins and Kessler Froch to happen first. Johnson is irrelevant. Then if Dawson and Froch win Calzaghe will have an oppertunity for true greatness by scalping them both.

    That would be ideal.

Why do you think Johnson is irrelevant; is it the high risk low reward factor, or do you just think Johnson doesn't pose a serious threat?

I don't think Johnson poses any threat against Calzaghe to be honest, the least out of all of em. I see him as a candidate to get a Lacy type clowning, but not quite as bad. There is nothing in his style that is problematic for Calzaghe, he's ideal.

I thought that due to HBO's offer it had to be either Dawson or Hopkins. Of these two I'm sure everyone would want to see Dawson which I fancy Joe winning by close UD. Same for Bhop although most would rather watch their own parents getting down and dirty than seeing that fight again

Bunce mentioned JC fighting Haye at a catchweight of around 14st 10lb.

im opposed to joe fighting on but if the same hopkins who turned up and fought pavlck turned up to fight calzaghe .dont you think it could be an excellent fight?

i know the argument for them not fighting (and i agree aswell) but ...

:good Plus the age factor. I want to see Calzaghe beat a proven, young fighter before he retires.... Many will argue Kessler ticks that box but I don't buy it.... Sorry TFFP. Kessler beats Froch he raises his stock but still not enough to convince me he's the second coming. Froch beats Pascal then Kessler... We would then have something very special... Same goes for Dawson. He's unproven as an elite fighter. If Zaggy beats him now it means very little- if he waits till Dawson beats Hopkins suddenly it becomes interesting. Its all about timing.

He cannot fight Froch or Johnson next... nonsense fights at this time. Froch has done nothing of note yet and Johnson is far too pedestrian to pose any threat at all to Calzaghe. Too much bad blood between Hopkins and Calzaghe for that to happen now given that Joe is in charge of his own decisions. Another win against Kessler does nothing much for him legacy-wise so the only boxer out of that list he could possibly choose is Dawson. It would be an interesting fight.

He should retire. it would only be for money and i believe dawson would have that edge in hunger....
