Here's a link to the article. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/7638453.stm SMW is pretty deep right now. Inkin and Zuniga are 2nd tier guys. Niether can hold on to that title for too long.
Maybe he'll end up fighting Pavlik at 175 so. At least Pavik gets a chance to test the waters there first. I think i'd prefer Zuniga to win this one as he'd be more likely to fight the other champs. I get the feeling that Inkin could do what Calzaghe and Ottke did and that'd be a shame considering the current climate at 168. Lots of interesting bouts to be made.
I said the other day that if Joe ever fights KP he would insist that Pav come all the way up to 175, and take the fight in Cardiff on 6 weeks notice. I'm also backing Zuniga over Inkin. Can Inkin keep Zuniga off of him and stay out of a war of attrition? Pavlik couldn't, so I doubt if Inkin can, but that's the key question in my opinion.
Pavlik is at the stage now where he has enough backers behind him to ensure that dosen't happen. Although this fight, should it happen, will happen in Wales. That's where Cazaghe wants to end his career. I haven't seen anything of Inkin and the barest of clips of Zuniga but my uneducated guess is that Inkin gets the decision. Unless his chin is fragile and Zuniga lands a big one on it, I can't see Inkin losing. From what i've hear, he is the more techinically sound and will have enough savvy to keep Zuniga at bay for the full 12. But as I said earlier, I feel Zuniga would be more likely to want to unify. I can't see Inkin willing to travel to the U.K or U.S for a unification with Froch or Taylor. Then you have Bute and Kessler. Maybe i'm completley wrong, but that's just my impression on him.
I agree that Zuniga is more likely to fight the best. My impression thus far is that he'll fight anyone at 160 or 168. As far as Zuniga/Inkin; riddle me this; Is Inkin physically stronger, better at controling distance, and equipped with better fundamentals than Pavlik? If he's not, he's gonna get knocked out. Of course, if he's fastest enough on his feet to run and pot shot, he may be able to win that way. I've seen Zuniga 4 times; Pavlik, Zertuche X 2, and Oganov. I've only seen Inkin on you Tube, so I'm no expert on the guy. I'll stick to my guns here: zuniga by KO -- 60% chance. Inkin by decision -- 40% chance.
168 is pretty empty right now, with Calzaghe gone for good to 175. If Pavlik moves there, it might get interesting though.
Bit harsh to call it empty,Kessler,Taylor,Froch,Bute,Pascal,Zuniga,Inkin,Andrade,Miranda,Lacy with Pavlik and AA probably to come. Say its in very good shape.
Pavlik is fighting at 175 against BHop, and hopes to fight there again against Calzaghe afterwards; AA is still at 160, so you can't count these guys until they actually fight there and dump their other titles. Other than that, you have a bunch of unknowns, two shot Americans, and Kessler (who is not exactly a big name). Sounds empty to me.
So Taylor is shot now!?. Just because YOU havent heard of the others doesnt make them any less talented or the division less exciting. No-way this division is empty.
