Calzaghe will never rematch Kessler because the risk/reward is all wrong. He's proved once he was better, so he's not going to prove much more by beating him again. On the other hand, he might lose this time, which would be a disaster...it's as simple as that.

Read my whole post, I explain why I say 10 out of 10. There's always a chance for a lucky punch, but it was Kessler who was seriously hurt in the fight.

For what reason should there be a rematch with Kessler then?

Money? He can get more elsewhere
Legacy? He's beaten him convincingly already
Sympathy? Maybe he'd want to give the nice Dane another chance

There is no logical reason and no clamour for a rematch. Truth be told Holger, it would be a backwards step for Calzaghe.

With hand picked refs (Palle was seriously ill and hat no chance/energy to do what any promotor would do. Agree?) On home turf with nearly unprecedented 50.000 backing Calzaghe! Get the picture?

I think I already responded to all your comments? I already gave the premises as I see them. Fair and square.

I'm afraid the only time we'll see Kessler vs. Calzaghe again when we put it in the DVD Player... :)

I think you are deluding yourself a little bit. The first four rounds were close, just like they have been for many Calzaghe fights. Bika caused problems to Joe for the first four rounds but got outboxed after that. Kessler got outboxed for the majority of the fight just like Bika - nobody is calling for a rematch for either (apart from some Danish people... go figure).

Calzaghe beats Kessler over 12 rounds in any ring, anywhere in the world with at least 2 neutral judges. Apart from power and youth, Calzaghe holds every other advantage and that's just the way it is.

You are implying that if Kessler was "100%" and that if the fight was fairly reffed and if the judges had all been fair, Kessler would have won, if he had been supported by 50,000 Danes.

Well, wasn't the fight fairly reffed? Was it not farily judged? Did Kessler not give a very good performance? If he was too far away from that "100%", he should have cancelled; clearly he thought he had enough. And the people screaming, cannot have made that much of a difference, unless his morale was already low...

Kessler could get lucky with a big bomb...

But that would only anger Joe.
