This thread is just allround dumb.

Throw in some name calling (very unoriginal btw) to begin with.

Then you use this logic: Joe fired his promoter = he ducked Pavlik - now you call that a fact. If you ever went to school you would know that that can never become a fact, just because you call it a fact. Fact: He fired his promoter. It is not a fact that he fired his promoter to get out of a Pavlik fight though, that is subjective speculation. Then you round it off with some more unoriginal, stupid name-calling to make yourself look even more dumb.

September 29th 2007 Pavlik knocks Taylor out, and about 10 minutes later Calzaghe called Pavlik out.

For the next several months Slappy Joe talked about wanting a fight with KP non-stop. Pavlik however had a contractual obligation to give Taylor a rematch at 166 pounds.

January 2008 Joe calls Roy Jones a shot fighter, and calls for the winner of Pavlik/Taylor II in an interview on Sentanta.

February 2008 Pavlik beats Taylor in the rematch contracted just 2 pounds shy of Joe's best weight. The scores were 115-113, 116-112, 117-111, and Slappy starts to grow quiet.

June 2008 Pavlik destroys Joe's stable mate, occassional sparring partner, and fellow Enzo Calzaghe fighter Gary Lockett. Pavlik stands center ring and says he wants Calzaghe. Arum, Warren, HBO, and the entire boxing world calls for Pavlik/Calzaghe.

All of a sudden, for some inexplicable reason, Roy Jones isn't shot anymore, and Joe claims he is a legend killer. Enzo and Joe both claim Pavlik isn't a big enough star for Joe. Even as they claim Pavlik isn't a big enough star, they simultaneously claim Joe offered KP a fight after Calzaghe/Lacy.

So, according to Joe and Enzo, Kelly wasn't a big enough star for Joe in the fall of 2008, but he was a big enough name back when his best win was Zuniga, and he was recovering from surgery on his right hand.

The only reason we are still speculating about this fight is because Joe Calzaghe ran like a *****, and acted like a buffoon. That's history, and nothing will change it.

You got all that on a word doc to cut and paste, right? Coz I've got visions of you, red faced and sweating, pounding the keyboard in that familiar pattern yet again. Scary, disturbing visions.

Btw, to my recollection, Calzaghe was mainly talking about Kessler in Spetember 2007 (being as he was fighting him two months later) and mainly talking about Hopkins after the Kessler fight. But you know all that, facts schmacts...

Taylor fight was in the mix. Talking about the fighter that just beat him is hardly calling him out. Plus he was gearing towards Kessler, a fight already made.

He talked about Hop, and he got him.

Jan 08 the Hop fight, got him, and before Pav-Taylor 2. The winner of TaylorPavlik 2 is a legit fight after the Hop fight no question, but that doesnt happen for obvious reasons later.

He's in training for the Hop fight.

Pav has his fight with Lockett while Calzaghe tries to break from his promoter.

All of a sudden nothing bud. Calzaghe free of Warren cashes in and makes the Jones fight. Also keeps HBO intrested. Pav takes the fight with Hop, whether through HBO instruction or not. He wins we get Pav-Calzaghe, he doesnt Calzaghe takes the money fight and retires. He lost. Thats the sad end.

We talked about this before the Hop fight Boo and you thought the same thing. It was HBO gearing towards a Pav-Calzaghe fight in the spring 09. Kelly didnt beat Hop.

Not sure the url will show, but this is obviously self contradictory. He didn't call Pavlik out. He just 'offered him a fight' when Kelly was a nobody one weight division below? WTF?

Joe Calzaghe has dismissed the suggestion that he should be fighting Kelly Pavlik next - and not Roy Jones Jr.

    ...

”Pavlik? It's like deja-vu. I was asked the same about Mikkel Kessler - who I think is a better fighter than Kelly Pavlik, by the way - and I've beaten him," Joe said in an exclusive interview with Setanta Sports News.

"Now all of a sudden there's a guy who's had one or two decent wins and they call me out. It's always going to be the case - how long can you go on for?

"I still don’t think Kelly Pavlik has really proven himself.”

Kelly hadn't proven himself after Taylor but he offered him a fight post Lacy? Come on. You know the saying about having a good memory if you are going to lie? :yep

I'm not going to waste any more time dredging this all up over again. Pretty much everything Boo and I have said has been documented before here on ESB. This was just a quick one to show Boo's point.

Quick edit. There has never been any confirmation about this fight that was supposedly offered to Pavlik.

Face facts! Calzaghe fought Roy's corpse AFTER he spent six months calling Pavlik out. When Pavlik said "bring it" Joe ran the other way. After the Lockett fight Enzo Calzaghe said "My Joe will NEVER fight Kelly Pavlik." And then both Enzo and Joe talked a steady stream of bull****. Pavlik/Hopkins had NOTHING to do with Slappy joe running from Pavlik. Slappy was already retired.

Facts are facing me bud. The baiting was mutual, but they were most vocal when they were already signed to fight others. Wonder why? Kelly took the Hop fight. Calzaghe didnt force him. Are you now saying if Kelly had won him and calzaghe wouldnt have fought in spring 09??.

Gonna have to show me that Enzo quote, i know the quote where he says Joe isnt Lockett and he'd beat kelly easily. And like I said in the first part of the post Kelly spent most of the Hop fight promotion talking about Calzaghe(shoot him in the leg etc). You know what it was geared towards. Why now it's came back is a mystery. It;s not even relevant.

    :lol::lol::lol:

I don't think you realize how bad Lockett was. A regional fighter.. like the 5th or 6th best in Britain.

The Pavlik nuthuggers are arguing semantics and relying on their version of events regarding who called who out as evidence that Calzaghe was scared of Pavlik and that means Pavlik would beat Calzaghe

They then trundle out the 'reading comprehension' crap etc etc etc.

Their only actual debate about what might happen in this match up is that Pavlik might catch Calzaghe at some point and drop him, possibly even KO him. That is possible, it's always a possiblilty in any fight against a power puncher, but I am willing to say that Calzaghe has the chin and recuperative powers to handle it and get back up and outpoint Pavlik for the rest of the fight.

Pavlik has done sweet FA since Hopkins schooled him.

Calzaghe would demolish Pavlik, he has a much higher work rate than Hopkins.

It's really to bad we have to settle for speculation. We could have had the actual fight in the fall of 2008, but Slappy Joe ran like a frightened school girl. The truly sad thing is the number of so called boxing fans who either deny history, or defend Slappy's right to run away.

Calzaghe is greater in all ways.

His legacy and wins speaks for themselves, Pavlik likely will never get close to his legacy. Who is out there for Pavlik? the 168lbs'ers are too much for him, there's a reason he's reduced to fighting small LMW.

As someone that is a pretty big Pavlik fan and cannot stand Calzaghe's persona. Calzaghe beats Pavlik on points. Love watching Pavlik, but he has weaknesses that a skilled boxer can exploit; as B Hop has shown us.
