ok, no hate or stupid comments here.

IMO calzaghe won by 8 rounds because he outpunched and outlanded b-hop, he made him look like a shot boxer in the latter rounds. clearly lost rounds 1 & 2, but won all other rounds on my card.

Why do paople think Hopkins won the fight? serious question, what in that fight makes some people think he did enough to win?

    I can't stand Calzaghe PERIOD

His slap punching style gives me the shits and the fight was horrible on so many levels. I give neither man any sort of credit and have never watched it since it was on live.

Scoring? Calzaghe by a single point but it was 100% junk.

that's exactly why there was never a rematch, it was horrible to watch.

i watched it cos it was an englishman sealing his legacy but i won't ever rewatch it again

Hopkins made Calzaghe miss an awful lot of punches, especially in the first half of the fight, while continually countering him with his right hand, and with the left hook sometimes.

Calzaghe didnt land one telling blow in the whole fight - the best punch he landed was a jab like straight left, which he landed about 2-3 times.

Calzaghe was throwing a lot, but the punch stats mean nothing seeing 98% of his punches were literally taps to hopkins arm/body/gloves (due to Hopkins defence)

Everytime Calzaghe opened up he got nailed straight down the middle - hence he didnt open up much, and he resorted to shortening his punches after the fourth round and making them weaker just so he could put some sort of leather on bhop - remember calzaghe didnt land a single jad in the first 3 (or was it 4) rounds.

The clean effective punching was all with bhop.

Everytime they fought on the inside bhop got the better of joe, joes shots were being blocked while bhop was catching him with short shots - a lot of this was missed by people as it was happening at such close quarters and happening quickly.

Bhop won rounds 1,2,3,4,6,10 in my eyes, that makes it 6-6 or 114-113 bhop,
However, rounds 5,7,8 could have went to hopkins also, but they were tight rounds. the only rounds i thought joe won for sure was 9 and 11.

At the end of the day - look at the expression of both corners after the fight.

All three bbc radio judges gave it to bhop. a setanta commentator had it for bhop. kevin iole (yahoo) gave it to bhop. dan rafael (espn) gave it to bhop. the associated press gave it to bhop. carl froch even gave it to bhop. the times magazine in the uk had it a draw. a lot of fans gave it to bhop.
One judge gave it to bhop, one who gave it to joe retired 2 weeks later.

and remember, joe ran away from a rematch, when bhop offered to fight him in his back yard in wales infront of 60000 spectators, to settle the score for what was a tight fight, and a disputed contest.

see i am quite biased towards english boxers so i give them swing rounds. any close rounds i gave to calzaghe, 3-12 all in his favour IMO. i just don't think B-Hop did enough to win any of the middle to late rounds

no demand for a rematch cos first fight was horrible to watch.

ye it's the age old debate of work rate verses crisp punchin. after round 3 when he straightened his punches i thought b-hop couldn't get near him.

i'm not disputin people genuinely thought joe lost, but watchin the fight i don't see it.

Watch round 6 closely, bhop landed some beautiful shots to win that round. he was the only one who landed anything telling.
the same and even more so in round 10. he won round 10 by a mile.

round 4 he landed the only blow of the round. the same could be said for round 7.

I thought Calzaghe took over from the 5th on.....The pace he set and Joe's speed killed Bernard more then anything plus Joe's stamina was ridiculous.

Why would Joe want to refight somebody who pretends to get low blowed because hes out of gas. Joe won the fight. Your the same people who said Joe was ducking Pavlik by fighting a shot and old Bhop.
