I had it 116-113 to Bernard

I score fights based on ring generalship, with clean effective punching. Aggression means nothing if it's done in a pointless manner.

Nearly all of Calzaghe's pitter patter punches were striking B-Hop's arms, shoulders and gloves. I can only remember once in the fight where he landed a nice clean shot. Whereas B-Hop knocked Calzaghe down, and was successful in landing hard clean shots that were rocking Calzaghe's head back on many occassions.

The Welshman was made to dance to B-Hop's tune all night, and never really controlled the fight. He was frustrated all night, and was very lucky to get that decision.

Not this again, this should be a banned topic on ESB!

Seriously though, we had a discussion about this on the Brit forum recently and I did a score card with a brief line of justification for scoring the round, that I will post below. I was PM'd a card by Grant1 also. If others could do the same on this thread it might make for an interesting read.

Calzaghe was awful, he hit air consistently. Resorted to short quick slaps disguised in flurrys. I thought Hopkins won without taking any necessary risks, which is understandable at his age. Many observers had Bernard winning, I remember watching a Roy Jones interview after, sheepishly he accepted the cleaner harder punches were from Bhop, calzagh threw as he described "pitter patter" punches, on occasions it looked embarrassing

anyway Bhop won the fight, calzaghe was given the decision.

Ring generalship. Hopkins' landed the cleaner, more accurate and effective shots. Calzaghe moved his arms a lot, hit a lot of shoulders, gloves, ears, thin air etc.

    1 - He's Welsh. Don't argue. You were wrong.
2 - You're scorecard is also wrong. 10-2 for Joe is laughable. He lost the first 4 rounds for a start.

I am American but I thought Calzage was a clear winner. The only Judge that gave B-Hop the close nod was Byrd...enough said...B-Hop was faking a foul to slow Joe down and I thought he lost those rds as well

Hopkins. Calzaghe fought very hard and never stopped trying but he just couldn't land any punches.
