Calzaghe in his only 2 fights at Light Heavyweight was floored by Hopkins, who never stopped anyone at Light Heavyweight. And a totally shot gunshy Roy Jones. I tend to think a huge punching Beterbiev, would do serious damage to Calzaghe at Light Heavyweight.

 

I never got the hype with Lacy even before the Calzaghe fight, he struggled immensely vs the likes of Sheika, Vanderpool, who are decent fighters but not elite level fighters. Them fights alone showed Lacy had serious flaws as a fighter, Lacy also was allowed to blantantly foul Reid hitting him on the break. And the referee called it a "knockdown" when it should've been point deduction for Lacy. Another fight which Reid was seriously hard done by in.

I know people like to say "oh well it's easy to say Lacy was overhyped with hindsight". But honestly the fights are there for everyone to see, Lacy never looked like some unbeatable version of Mike Tyson at Super Middleweight. He had struggled immensely vs B class fighters prior to Calzaghe fight. And whilst the Calzaghe fight did totally wreck Lacy's confidence, I never thought he was anything special in all honesty.

 

Im a big big fan of Calzaghe, however as if anyone is going to win an easy UD against Beterbiev. Just wouldn’t happen. Would be a harder fight for Joe than Kessler was.

 

Calzaghe got dropped by lesser punchers, i think Beter most likely takes slappys 0.

Calzaghe had a questionable heart

He wanted to pull out of fights on numerous occasions due to "injuries". Even in the run up to the Lacy fight he wanted to pull out but his dad, Enzo, slapped some sense back into him.

He was a simpleton from Wales who hit the big time after finding some courage.

Aside from work rate he has nothing to trouble Beterbiev.

I know I am a mega AB fanboy but let's use logic and rationale here.

If Popkins and shot RJJ could put him down in the first round what is AB able to to?
