I'm Welsh, I like Calzaghe a lot but Beterbiev would put a bad beating on Joe and probably stop him late, I'd never want to see it. Beterbiev was 50-50 with future GOAT cruiser and GOAT southpaw heavyweight Usyk over three fights in the amateurs and Beterbiev is more suited to the pros than he was the amateurs. He's the best LHW H2H. Calzaghe wasn't even a natural LHW and he was a light puncher. He'd school Froch though.
Well we aren't talking about how much courage he has/had. We are talking about how he would do H2H against Beterbiev. I think Joe is way faster, and the skill gap would be huge. I think his style is perfect to box and frustrate Beterbiev, and remember Joe is an ATG when it comes to in-ring adjustments. That is one if the reasons why I rank him so highly in H2H scenarios is his ability to change his approach and adjust mid fight. He might take some nice body shots along the way but Beterbiev doesn't have the range to change his style if plan A doesn't work. I take Joe on a 8-4 type decision.
As night follows day, one thing is clear King Arthur Beterbiev is No Jeff Lacy. Beterbiev defeats Super Joe Calzaghe by justified homicide. To beat Beterbiev you are going to need more skills like that of SOG (Son of God) Andre Ward or the other Russian Tsar Prince Dimitry Bivol etc. I love Super Joe but people forget Joe was actually quite aggressive the way he went about his work and not that difficult to catch so Arthur would find him and put his lights out.
Joe was past his best at 175lbs and hand were super brittle he was getting dropped by an old Hopkins and a shot Jones. Artur would stop him late.
