Well? Who takes it? Over 15 or 12 rounds. At LH obviously.

Finnegan would take it on points, after Calzaghe pushing him all the way. Chris was in his prime as a 175 pounder, while Joe was winding down his career when he moved up.

The Chris who gave Bob Foster 14 rounds of excellant competition would be a little too much for Joe i feel, His Boxing ability, (remember Olympic gold medalist ) would Keep Joe long range thinking instead of constantly inside doing ! also when Joe does get trough he will find a very tough determined individual who is in no way shy of a fight. Hal TNT Carrol, Foster, Conteh (ist Time) and Mike Quarry amongst others found that for a talented "Boxer" Chris Finnegan was a tough durable and determined character. Calzaghe's best hope might of been through Cuts. But Joe does not bring that Conteh Viciousness, 15 rounds would probably suit Finnegan better.

I got Joe for this one...but in an achingly close and possibly controversial one.

Calzaghe would stand a better chance had he moved up to light-heavy in his physical prime imo, when his reflexes, legs and straight punching sharpness were better. Not a big fan of Joe at 175.

I don't think the one that did fight there has the offensive sharpness or defensive skill to win this.

Finnegan's ordinary reflexes and defence was his own biggest drawback against the likes of Foster and Conteh(and would be against other A level light heavies), but i tend to think Calzaghe would have a much greater degree of difficulty landing on him, especially while the two are fencing on the outside.

Finnegan moves well, with quite similar footwork to Hopkins and while lacking on the defensive cuteness end, brings a good workrate, great stamina, toughness and solid strength.that and his quick accurate one-two's, jabbing and sneak left hand would see him take a decision.Lots of good exchanges, but Joe can't stop getting hit straight down the pipe, is outmaneuvered on the outside and likely wouldn't use his own good jab enough.

Cheers! Interesting responses that I tend to agree with. Finnegan was one rugged customer.

Calzaghe's a bit above Finnegan for me- Chris was game enough to bring the fight for the full distance, but wasn't sound enough defensively to win through here and Joe's extra speed and punch volume would be too much in terms of scoring points. I see Joe winning a UD by around 7-4-1.

I'll say this much: It would be a ****ing war, much like Finnegan vs. Frankham.

I'll only respond further if you edit those pink blobs out of your picture ;)

I'd pick Joe over that Finnegan.

Finnegan was a tough customer who gave his all in the ring. I fancy him strongly over 15 rounds

It stunning when you realise both the Finnegan brothers and Quarry brothers were all gone by their mid fifties.
